  1. I believe the future is going to be a sliding scale starting at A and heading to C.

Yes, we've been leaning heavily on the Portal the last few years because we could.

However, I see the Portal in the coming years becoming a diminishing return as we get farther from the artificial extended availability of athletes due to the covid* years' extensions.  The primary reason we had Nix, Dillon, et al is that they had 5 - 6 years of eligibility due to the NCAA extending additional years to (partially) compensate these athletes for the years robbed from them by the virus.

10 years ago, who'da thunk we'd in succeeding years have 2 quarterbacks playing out 5 - 6 years of college eligibility?  The farther we get from the virus years, the more we'll return to athletes playing only 3 years (again), and maybe staying for a 4th year only if it will help improve their NFL draft status.

This return to normal eligibility will be the great equalizer, and it will soon become super important to recruit and develop our own talent, and only occasionally reach into the portal "cupboard" to fill a need that, for whatever reason, we were not able to supply through our own organic sourcing/development.

As this transition occurs, I believe we'll see Coach Lanning really shine as he will finally be able to field a team comprised mostly of his own recruits who have been developed in house.

With this in mind, I'm super stoked about the future, and can't wait for Aug 31 to see how next season is going to pan out!

I yelled at him to “shut the he!! up” multiple times during the game for all the same reasons you mentioned.

Now that I wrote that out, am I a little embarrassed that I was yelling at the TV when no one could hear me? A little.

You're better than me! I was shouting "STFU" quite vociferously!! LOL!!

I think that's a misspelling of Yucks, which is part of the lexicon in Huskyville.

So, what you're really saying is that not only is this individual a boorish partisan imbecile, but also that his inability to spell is certainly a fine example of intellectual and educational "prowess"?

If so, well spoken, my friend! 🤣🤣

  4. Once again, it felt like we were fighting not only another team and a hostile crowd (to be expected at a road game) but the anouncers too...

So, we had to win like 3 games at once. No wonder it was only a 1 score win! Holy crap!!

    Good grief Charlie Brown!!

I'm so happy we have a bye week, we need to catch up alittle bit LOL!!

    Go Ducks!! Beat the Fuskies!!

  5. Due to my schedule I often have to watch the game on Sunday.

Without knowing any of the above, and with several minutes left in the 4th quarter, I paused the game on an aerial shot of their stadium to point out to my wife how empty the stands already were.

I didn't quite make the connection that Coach Lanning did, but I pointed out how much disrespect the Michigan fans were showing their own team.

The fact that Coach Dan took a timeout to verify and validate his prophecy is amazing to me!

The brilliance Is too much!! Gotta put on my shades 😎!!

I guess it's better to be Oregon than New Mexico this year. (Who could have known?)

I looked up Miami, half expecting to see "head coach".

I did the same thing LOL!!

I guess at least we know who is going to be blamed for the odd timeout before the first play.

I guess it'll probably also be the secondary's fault that they had to run the same failed 4th & 1 play for the third time in a row...

    Hahahaha!!!!

  7. I think the best way to look at this going forward is thru an SEC style lens. When/if we fall back to only 8 in-conference games, then we can schedule beavis for the 4th out of conference game. Say around game 9-10 as the cupcake game to rest & heal up for the home stretch. Otherwise beavis can go chew trees for all I care!

  8. I've always appreciated the class and poise that Marcus has conducted himself with.  He has certainly had more than his fair share of adversity in the NFL, but his attitude has always been one that uplifts those around him.

Marcus is a fantastic representative of his home (Hawaii), UO, and by extension us, being fans of the Ducks.

I wish Marcus a wonderful year of pro football, and with any luck at all, several more.

True, Coach Cristobal made a bonehead mistake by not overriding his O.C.'s decision to run the ball.  99 times out of 100 noting bad happens but still, that was a dumb thing to do.  That 100th time came back to haunt him.

Ahh, Mari No O strikes again!!

It wouldn't surprise me if he did override his OC's play call - to take a knee!!  He's bone headed enough to tell his crew "we're not taking the easy way out, we'll fight to the end!!" and run another play...

And, it would be just like him to let his OC take the blame for the call that he changed...

Wonder who his OC next year will be?  LOL!!

    Forever grateful to Miami!!

  11. Something I have done in the last several years is to cable my TV to my desktop or my laptop via HDMI cables. I don't watch a ton of streaming content, but it works great for watching YouTube videos with my wife, or watching Prime TV content. My main TV is almost 20 years old, and it handles all the connections I want to throw at it. Once this connection is put in place, all you have to do is switch inputs on your TV to watch whichever one you want to at the time.

Something I have started doing when traveling is to pack an HDMI cable with my laptop, and connect it to the TV in my hotel room - allowing me to watch whatever would be my regular programming at home, or watch content from my DVR.

Can't call me a gray beard as I don't wear a beard, but my mustache is definitely not the same shade of brown it was 40+ years ago either.  Nothing stays the same, and while I bristle when confronted with change, I will do whatever it takes to watch my Ducks.

So, after a little time to cool down, there is one thing that is sticking with me. Ty Thompson doesn’t deserve to be qb2. He doesn’t care, or is too scared to play. I understand that the coaches probably told him to let the rbs run the ball, but come on.

Those hand offs look like they’re being delivered by a mannequin. The loss, in the end, isn’t on him, but he didn’t contribute anything.

This being TT's 3rd year in the program, I'm still trying to figure out what the previous staff was doing with QB "development".  I think we're seeing a pattern, though, of Mari no O's program of natural QB regression.  There's a track record to follow -  vastly under utilizing the fabulous JH, turning AB into merely a journey man QB from what he was, and turning TT into a "mannequin'.  At present he has moved on and is now focusing his efforts on turning a potential Heisman candidate into what AB was last year.

A normal expectation of TT is that he would, at the very least, not be worse than he was in high school.  But to watch him, it's apparent that he really wants to be anywhere but on the field at that moment.  @JMac above is correct, the loss isn't on TT, but he sure as (substitute adjectives of your choice here) didn't do anything to try avoiding the loss.

At the very least, I would like to see Butters get a shot.  If he shows any emotion at all, win, lose or draw, it would be an improvement IMHO.

  13. Wow!  Great analysis Charles!  I like the science displayed in Coach Lanning's strategies (or is it rather strategeries?).  This concept makes the onside kick/stolen possession in the 2nd quarter of the Bruins game all the more relevant. Not only did we get to score in back to back possessions - we stole time

(Can you imagine an old fashioned bandit, kerchief over his face, six gun drawn, entering a bank and yelling "Gimme your time or else!!". And grabbing the clock off the wall, jumping on his horse and racing out of town, chased in a cloud of dust by the Sheriff and a posse!)  I posit that is exactly what Coach Lanning did as a result of the successful onside kick.

Employing the clock as an ally rather than an adversary makes sense to me.  Any time you are dealing with a set of absolutes, and can tip those absolutes in your favor, you greatly affect the outcome in your own favor.  It means taking control and managing for the best outcome*.

My observation of this current Duck's staff, buoyed by the above analysis, is that they are reducing the random, and further convinces me that great times are ahead for Our Beloved Ducks!!

    Go Ducks!!

*And wandering a little again, I am so pleased that in a significant game there were no timeouts called at the beginning of play, or to decide whether to go for it on 4th down, or....  You get my point!

Have a great day all my Ducks kinfolk, and enjoy all the ponderings of Our Beloved Ducks!!

That last pass by Bo was obviously never intended to be completed...

I told my wife the same thing.  If the guy can drop a 57 yard dime into the waiting arms of a receiver running at full speed, he could have thrown another touch down.  The fact he threw to a waiting receiver - but beyond the end zone - indicates this was planned as the play to end the game.

Props to Coach Lanning for outstanding sportsmanship!
