  1. I would definitely give the nod to Moore over Novasad for backup QB, simply because he is more mobile. Both have excellent arms.

The job is Gabriel’s. He’s got big game experience, can make all the throws, and the guy can really run. He’s not a big guy, only 5-11 or so, but his size clearly hasn’t hampered him much thus far.

I hope Mark Campbell hasn’t gotten too used to Ft. Worth yet. In all honesty, he doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would ditch TCU after only one season. He’s had some good success despite the adversity his team faced this season.

We sorely miss Campbell. He can recruit. Graves obviously can’t.

Oregon Womens Basketball has his a bottom which ,several years ago, I'd not have thought possible!

Will replacing Kelly Graves be the answer or is the issue much deeper?

    Do they get NIL?

Why did we lose our good recruits from past several years?

I am no expert, I just know loved going to watch them 4 yrs ago and would not wast the gas money to town for these

    embarrassing performances!

Jaz Shelley choosing to transfer to Nebraska after her freshman year at Oregon has turned out to be a smart move. She has been a steady producer for the Cornhuskers and today hit a clutch three and two free throws to clinch Nebraska’s upset of Iowa and Caitlin Clark.

You know, it is funny you mention that because I forgot all about it.  Why?  Because I have not watched one in 20 years, if not longer.  I believe I watched one and thought, "this is stupid," and would fast forward through them every year since.

I take that back; I did watch one, Tom Petty, and came away highly disappointed.  Love his music, and RIP Tom.

Bruno Mars and Beyoncé was perhaps the best halftime show ever, but most were pretty much unwatchable.

I happen to enjoy the 10-30 seconds of Taylor Swift at Chiefs games.' Is it really all that different from showing Jack Nicholson or Spike Lee on the sidelines at basketball games?

And I think it's way better than the days when the cameras would linger on some anonymous girl at a football game in a tight sweater while Brent Musburger verbally drooled over her. Now that was yucky!

Totally agree Annie. The NFL — and especially the Super Bowl — is more than anything, entertainment. The cameras will zoom in on anything that might appeal to the audience, which for this  game will NOT just include football fans.

If they want to show Taylor Swift for a total of less than 2 minutes, which is typical, what’s the big deal?

  6. Favorite sports…..in order:

Football, Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Track, Women’s Basketball, Tennis and Golf (which, justifiably, rarely if ever appear here.)

Note: I love women’s basketball, just not the Ducks right now. The UConn-Notre Dame game was the one of the highlights of yesterday’s women’s slate, and the day before South Carolina’s win at LSU was an instant classic,

I had season tickets for 20 years.  Now I go to a couple of games a year.

I like to stand.  It's really hard on my back and hips to sit on the bench seating for 3+ hours.  And as a larger person (6'4"), there is often not enough leg room to sit comfortably and I have to fight for hip space when I am sitting.  If there is a stadium seat in front of me, forget about it.   Sitting is no longer a reasonable option.

And I can no doubt see better.

That being said, I am conscious of those around me and try and make friends and ask where I can stand to hopefully not obstruct their view too much.

    That's my experience, anyway.

“ Not obstruct the view too much.”

For what we’re paying for season tickets, I don’t want my view obstructed at all.

I have been quietly pondering the impact of the Portal overall on CFB. It seems to me that Alabama getting a new coach could be the start of Portal madness making the entire landscape more equal. We may see a pure Paradigm shift in the CFB landscape.

It’s not just the portal. It’s the portal and NIL.

The portal originally was mostly loaded  with players, who either had not lived up to expectations, or were not getting the playing time they had expected.

Now NIL money has gotten so attractive that players who are perfectly happy where they are, are entering the portal to shop around for more cash.

The game has changed…..and something needs to be done.

    But what?

    Hell if I know.

This one's a bit of a head-scratcher to me.  Sure a DC job with MSU would make career sense, but a lateral move as CB coach?  I can't imagine the draw of his alma mater is that strong, especially since we're loaded and MSU is in rebuild mode.

Could this possibly be Lanning giving him the nudge?

It could possibly be Michigan State writing a bigger check than the Ducks.

That’s in Orange Beach. It’s a vacation destination that is very close to the Florida panhandle, so prices will be similar. Newer houses in the 2500-3000 square foot range that are inland will still be seven figures easily.

Waterfront property in the Bellevue area with similar square footage will run $20-$30M. All the more reason for DeBoer to relocate. He probably lives in a shanty with his Husky salary.

DeBoer will be set for life with his new contract, even if he flames out at Alabama. I don’t know what he was making at UDUB, but they hired him from Fresno State, so it obviously paled in comparison to what he is guaranteed with his new deal. Good move for him.

I’ve been consumed by a time sensitive situation and so have been oblivious to the outside world.

On Thursday morning I did a quick scan and saw Pete was fired (a good thing I think) and read a cursory list of potential replacements.

I have finally finished what I had been focused on to just now read DeBoer is going to Alabama (I didn’t even know Saban retired!)

And I live in Seattle making my cluelessness all the more ridiculous

Sometimes it’s good to be off the grid from time to time 🙂

Fellow Cal Bear here…….you must have been waaaaay off the grid. You missed all the fun, and all the “will he or won’t he” chatter.

I just feel relieved that Dan is sticking around.

But I’m not naive, and realize that some day he will move on……they all eventually go.

So, let’s just enjoy the ride while it lasts.

I won't trust it personally until it comes out of his mouth.

But I can see him getting tired of the process because recruiting itself is hard... but now coaches have to constantly recruit their own rosters which is rough. I could see him feeling done with the whole state of college football.

But... I could also see this being a whole lot of smoke.

James Hunter: No smoke without fire.

    He’s gone.

He has had some big big time receivers to throw to.

Odunze alone was able to just make plays on the ball. I think that's a massive part of Penix's success that he could just throw a 50-50 ball... Or worse... A 40-60 (def advantage ball) and Odunze would just get it what felt like every time.

Penix is good... But I honestly think his receivers were better.

Huskies could not run the ball, which emboldened the Michigan line to come after Penix, who never once looked comfortable in the pocket and by the end of the game was hurting so badly he probably should not have been on the field.

Really, it was line play on both sides of the ball that doomed the Huskies.
