  1. Don’t get me wrong, I despise the Rat ba$+2rd$ as much as the next good guy, but whether you as a Duck fan like to admit it or not, when the nutria win, it’s good for us Ducks fans as well. That is unless they’re playing the Ducks. Let’s face it. Until the last 15 years bubba and Jim Bob from the holler couldn’t distinguish between an OSWHU team and the good guys, so it’s good imho that they have relevance as it gets the ‘OREGON” name out there! Go Ducks!

I think, in general, we improved penalty-wise over the Mari0 years.

I don’t have the stats, but that was my impression.

Penalties have been the aspect of OBD that has disappointed me most since the Helfrich years.

There’s just no excuse to get tons of penalties. Obviously, there is such a thing as a “good” penalty. And sometimes there is excessive noise or unfair play by the other team that draws penalties, but those should be few and far between.

    Excessive noise? Please explain?

IMHO, I think greed is to blame for the whole mess.  Greedy networks, greedy Universities, greedy boosters, and greedy coaches.

The NIL is just greedy lawyers trying to get more for themselves and for some of the greedy players they represent.

I think the majority of the players would have been fine (and played just as hard) with the way it was before, but will happily accept anything the NIL process throws their way.

Sorry in advance to the lawyers here but; Do you know what you have with 20,000 lawyers at the bottom of the sea? Answer; A good start ;))

At this point, it’s difficult to ever imagine the car keys being handed to Ty. That glazed smile painted across his face during the turbulence of live action seems to suggest just how lost the kid feels.

To a great extent, he appears to be the victim of his own bright, potential future — which is where he seems to be stuck. Potential means nothing unless you can develope the capacity and maturity to turn it into reality. Yet another reminder of Mario’s legacy?

Hopefully, he proves this point of view utterly wrong and catches fire. It’s happened many times before. On the other hand, a step back into the comfort zone of a lower division program where the pressure is off is sometimes required to give young minds the chance to catch up to potential.

I wish the kid well — whatever path he eventually follows.

He probably really is distracted by college fun!

I only watched the start of the Miama-aTm game.   Didn't see the result until today.    During the first quarter, I was surprised that Mario's prevent-O seemed to be moving the ball well.  They actually rarely ran up the middle into a pile like the OBD did last season.    But I guess he must have let his tail shown later on in the game as his team managed only 9 pts.  Ouch and good riddance!

    Prevent O!!! Classic!

My stomach turned last Saturday when one of our d-backs was flexing and woofing after a wide open Georgia receiver dropped an easy catch. I think we were only down 28-3 when that bit of sportsmanship took place.

And I thought DL wasn't going to stand for it?

I wouldn't be surprised if Dillingham wants to take a shot down field right out the gate to test the Georgia defense. A deep shot is a test on the pass rush and on the secondary. It's risky but if it works that is one hell of an opening statement.

Watch out for Kelee Ringo, who's expected to go in the top ten of next years draft!

I'm also super confused why DeRuyter's defense was pretty pathetic last year. He has the history of being a pretty good DC and yet our defense was pretty poor.

Avalos fielded a strong defense in 2019 and we'll 2020 was a super big mess with a mixture of lots of youth and vets leaving in drives both.expectabtly and unexpectedly.

But 2021 should have seen auch stronger defense out the gate. Later in the year there were loads of injuries but game one and three (against Stoneybrook) were aweful... And it didn't get much better.

I'm so glad Mr prevent D left for Miami!!!

The loss of the big Seattle tackle to the Huskies' rival was another blow.

Overall a rather realistic article with some decent reflection about that program to the north. Their misery is absolutely delightful for us Duck fans.

I can't overstate how big this year has been for Oregon's recruiting wins from the state of Washington. Oregon has taken two major players out of the state which has never happened before.

    Guck the fuskies!

If...if...student-athletes are legally employees, then I don't see how anything can stop unlimited NIL money. Restraint of trade laws would apply, or something like them, right?

Not to say everyone, or even most people, would want this situation. But, all it would take is one athlete, or parent, or booster, or university to test the limits and get a favorable court ruling.

But, if student-athletes are not employees, then limits and rules could be applied. But by what organization? Does the NCAA really exist anymore?

NCAA has been and will be a joke!

Not that Bill Simmons isn't laughing all the way to the bank after selling The Ringer for 200 mil, but after he left ESPN, he fell off my radar.

Canzano is no where near as popular as Bill Simmons was at ESPN.  It will be easy to be independent, but I have a feeling his article views is going to go way down.

     Bill who???
