It will be hard for Thompson to start over Nix in the beginning and I blame that totally on MC and his staff. He should have been getting plenty of minutes by the start of pack 12 play last season but that didn’t happen. If he does beat out Nix early then we will know just how good he really is.

On the defensive side of the ball I’m not as worried. Our new coaching staff will have our defense playing on their toes instead of their heels with a controlled aggressive approach that will drive opposing teams nuts. This should cause plenty of havoc and probably will cause far less injuries than what we have seen the last couple years. Attacking defenses are much more fun to watch for all us fans.

Going to be a fun ride and will give this Forum plenty to talk over in the coming months. Let the music start.

Totally agree, really poor coaching to Not get Ty more snaps, totally bad decisions, so glad he’s (Cristobal) gone, I just sincerely wish he would have been able to spend more time with his Mom!😢

I guess nobody saw the Mario Cristobal's offense while at Oregon.

Our team of writers breaks down which players -- both on offense and defense -- have the best chance to win the Heisman Trophy in 2022.

David Hale: The offseason hype surrounding Miami might already be too loud after the hiring of Mario Cristobal and a number of other high-profile assistants, but let's throw a little more gas on the fire: QB Tyler Van Dyke wins the 2022 Heisman trophy. Van Dyke finished last season as arguably the hottest passer in the country, throwing for 300 yards and three or more touchdowns in each of his final six games. So imagine the narrative if a hotshot QB, fresh off a stellar 2021, leads long-suffering Miami and its first-year head coach to the promised land, finally capturing an ACC title. That's a Heisman story!

Will it happen? Ah, probably not. There's bound to be some growing pains for the Hurricanes once the season starts, and we've seen too many years of dashed hopes in Coral Gables to bet on things changing all at once. Still, the possibility at least exists, and Van Dyke, who famously trash talked NC State before toppling the Wolfpack on the field in just his fourth career start, certainly has the swagger to do something few others assumed possible.

That, and Crystalball won’t let him throw it!

  3. I would say it would be on a sunny September day as I witnessed the very first Oregon game in Autzen against Colorado in1967. My father, R.I.P., took me and my two brothers to the game and at 14 years old I became a fan! Through the years I’ve witnessed in person the Kenny Wheaton play and the toilet bowl, and I sat there in the rain watching our Ducks get crucified all through the 70’s and the 80’s, then to see the unbelievable run the U of O has had in the last twenty years it brings tears to my eyes at times Go Ducks 🦆🦆🦆

Grew up in Corvallis, and LOVED to hate the Ducks, as my father was a professor at OSU.  Went to a party in Eugene, (a friend was invited and did not want to go alone and dragged me along) and met a girl, dated, fell in love and married her.  She had a great job in Eugene to put me through school, so I went to Oregon.

Found myself becoming an avid fan, bought season tickets in 1986 and had them since.  I am a Platypus, as I do wish the Beavers to victory when they are not playing us, thus some retention of my parents influence!

But have no warmth in my heart for Huskies...

Been on message boards/forum since 1997, and began doing my own "Scrimmage Reports" beginning in about 2003.  Started FishDuck.com in August of 2011, and now...the Our Beloved Ducks forum.

    I love my DUCKS!

Everybody....tell us your story as an Oregon fan!

And we love you and this wonderful site and extremely knowledgeable writers!

I look forward to those 4 new elements, and thank you Coach Boles.  The Wildcat often makes me less than optimistic, but I am a firm believer in that pro-style under the center!

The thing is, I am struggling with the unknown.

While I admit that the while the stats below on Coach Dillingham are just a minor snapshot in time, nothing I see over the past 2 years at Florida State offensively has me really fired up in any way.

Especially that points per game stat.

But it's a new chapter for OBD, and I am at peace with moving forward.

I was anxiety ridden thinking Oregon was going to give a huge long term contrac to a clearly inferior coach that was also highly inflexible.  Nice for him that he gets to go home but WHEWWW!

Totally agree, great recruiter, poor game manager and couldn’t seem to motivate, WHICH is Everything IMHO

If Cristobal stood up to the players and let them know his story good for him. He deserved to have a good bye.

Mullens should have had a meeting right after that talk. He should have told them something which had reassured the players even more than the sales pitch Mario gave them. I am just not sure Mullens has that in him.

I am concerned the players have been left adrift after the Mario talk. Most businesses take the keys and change the locks when this type of thing happens. I glad we gave Mario some respect, but we have to take care of the program. The student athletes need to know they will be taken care of even better, and soon!

    God, I hope so!
