Rough start. Hopefully we turn the corner here and start making some shots.

The fact that they will likely penalize SMU for losing that game is insane.
I know they won’t do it, but they should refuse to play.

lol. What is this? Is Oregon being punished for being the new kid on the block?
Harmon basically lived in the backfield the entire year - 3rd team?
Matayo - Leads conference in sacks - 2nd team?

I think it is very likely and almost a done deal that the 5 seed is going to get some combination of the BIG-12 winner and Mountain West winner in the first and second rounds.
The benefit of being the 5 seed is that you potentially have the easiest path to the semifinals, even though you have to play an extra game.
You are going to have to beat the best eventually anyways to win the whole thing, so I sure hope Oregon wins on Saturday. But if for some reason they don’t, it’s probably not the end of the world.
I think that last SEC team will end up as the 11 seed, but we shall see.
I would also love to beat Alabama. My niece is in school there right now.

Big Ten Sideline Sports Network account labels this as #2 vs #4. Hmm, someone call the marketing and communications departments.
They probably still have osu2 No. 1 in their rankings.

There is one stat that truly outlines how big of an upgrade Lanning was from Cristobal.
Cristobal lost to 4 unranked conference opponents in three years at Oregon.
Lanning lost to 0 unranked conference opponents in three years at Oregon.

If the loser of the ACC doesn't get in, I doubt Miami has a shot.
The ACC and Big 12 conference championship losers will not be treated like those from the B1G or SEC. However, I think if SMU loses to Clemson they stand a remote chance of getting an invite regardless, though I suspect they might be the 12 seed at that point.
One of two three loss teams, probably from the SEC, are going to sneak into this thing. I don't like it personally because they have 4 OOC wins that are pretty uninspired. Georgia and South Carolina, however, do have wins over Clemson which are at least decent.
The bottom chunk of these rankings are going to be bonkers.
Yeah. Thinking South Carolina probably did enough to get the last spot, but we will see on Tuesday.

I think the interesting story line this week is who is going to be ranked 11 and be the last at-large team in the field prior to CCG week.
The three candidates that I see are Miami, Alabama, and South Carolina.
Miami - Can Miami really be in the field with 2 losses to unranked teams (should have been at least 4) and no ranked wins. If they are, something is seriously wrong with the process.
Alabama - Will Alabama get the nod based on past history? They are in slightly better position than Miami, even with the additional loss.
South Carolina - Took 3 early losses, but have been on an absolute roll since about the middle of October. In that time they have racked up 3 wins against teams in the CFP Top 25. IMO, South Carolina is the team that deserves this last spot.
Question - If Clemson wins the ACC Championship is SMU safely in? IMO, they should be.

Tez being kept under wraps? Spring him on Penn State?
He was WIDE OPEN on that second series. If Gabriel sees him, he’s probably still running.

Need to put another score on them before half.

Wow. Miami continues to be a team that is very undisciplined. That was a huge penalty that probably held them to 3 on that drive.
And just like that, they essentially lose the game on a stupid penalty.
We are so lucky Mario left and we ended up with Dan.

I don't think you do, you still have the playoffs, if they end up out of the playoffs then you might pull the trigger, but I think you have to wait to see if they're in it. I don't think the players would respond well if you fired him right now. If he end up in the championship game, or wins the whole thing then he's redeemed himself, if he doesn't then you can show him the door immediately and get the search going in earnest.
Agree with this. You are still in the playoffs, so I don’t see them firing Day right now. However, a first round exit in the playoff might do it. He better win a couple games.

Wow. GT leaving points on the table on multiple possessions, but still up 10-0.

I agree with Saint Nick. If the loss comes in the SEC champ game, 3-loss UGA still deserves a seat at the Playoff Table.

The pressure is on for Georgia football as the season is coming to an end. At 9-2, they haven’t quite clinched their spot in the College Football Playoff yet, bI agree too. In no case should a team that made it to the conference championship be penalized for losing that game ( in terms of not getting in). If you are in before the game, you should be in after, regardless of the result.

Did a much better job on the glass today, which was good to see.

I’ll go a step further and say that Georgia should be No. 3. I would bet Georgia against ND, Miami, and Penn State. And we know how they faired against Texas.
-
Agree. I think the biggest issue right now is rebounding. If they can get that fixed, they will be hard to beat. Shooting will come around as they play more together.

ASU was picked to finish dead last in the Big-12. If they beat AZ, give that man his award.

If Oregon wins the CCG, do you think tOSU will stay at 5? Might give the committee a good excuse to drop them one spot to a 6.

Someone needs to remind Paul that the SEC is 2-5 against OOC Power 4 teams with winning records. That sounds closer to a bunch of Indianas than total dominance.
As an Oregon fan, the only SEC team I am worried about is Georgia.

Uh oh. Let’s hope he doesn’t go into full “River Boat” Dan mode for this game against Washington.

Ole Miss has three losses against unranked teams. Bama has two losses against unranked teams. A&M has one loss against an unranked team. The funny thing about this is the Aggies can still make the SECCG next week with a win. The committee has also said they won’t overlook a conference championship game runner up because they’re still considered the second best team in the best conference. So, it’s feasible that a four loss A&M team could be in the playoff.
IMO, this is the issue with the current situation. In my opinion, A&M is not the second best team in the SEC. They are probably the 5th best, with the second easiest schedule in the conference (behind Texas).
