I recall many in the media (and beyond) initially doubting the leadership abilities of Mariota and Herbert.  They were 'too quiet, 'too soft spoken'.  Most of us don't learn how to lead until we are repeatedly put into a leadership position.  I bet Ty will grow into a leader given some time.

WE have Butterfield as well as another blue chipper coming in next year.  Something has to give?

Seven does not appear to have the "it factor" that DAT had. Yes, he is quick and illusive. But, I have not seen anything from him yet that puts him near DAT level. I really hope he can get there at some point. But, DAT had it from day one... Seven not so much.

I am trying this new positive thinking approach.

What will it take to see Ty take over?

Will it be an injury to Nix and only an injury? Does Nix get the starting spot even if he struggles mightily?

Can Ty take the job over in practice, much like Herbert finally did his freshman year when what's Prukop struggled? By the way Prukop has had a decent career in the CFL.

Does the staff pull Nix when, if he struggles and sees if Ty can rally the team and win one? Is Ty close enough in the race to get an opportunity when, if things go sideways?

I know these are questions I am asking, not that I hope the negative scenarios play out, but, what if?

Bo is going to carve up the Pac-12.   I am biased to deep balls, so I am really hoping to see us blow past BYU's secondary.   I think we have the pieces to beat any remaining defense deep.  USC does as well,  but unlike USC,  we have the defensive players to make stops.  I still believe, if we play as a team, and open the playbook, we are going to a big 6 bowl.  Crazy maybe, but I think the pieces are there.

I heard on the radio this morning that Seven McGee will be able to return this weekend.  His injury wasn't serious.

But as much as I favor the young man I can see Lanning using him more in a special teams or gimmick-play situation to get the kid out in space where he can use his speed and agility.  Sending him plunging into the line to grind out tough yards would not, imo, be the right role for him.

BYU cannot guard him.  He could be a game changer like De Anthony was.  Just one or two deep throws, or some mis-direction, and its 6 baby.

A&M lost to a far less talented team Saturday.  They did not play like a team that fights for one another; but the team that beat them sure did!

BYU loves each other, they fight for each other, they are a force because they are a team.

If every player on the field played together as a unit, and unselfishly, I would pick Oregon by 17.

Win or lose, I am just hoping to see us playing like a team with purpose, fighting for one another.

The Beavs rolled them last year and are better this year. 41 points against Stanford isn’t that spectacular. If OSU can cut that to 31, they should have enough offense to out score them.

I hear and salute!  Beavers look better for sure.  But I also think USC is a different team.  I cant wait to watch that game. Go Ducks

OSU will beat USC. This won't be an upset. They are just the better team. I think WSU will beat USC as well.

Maybe, but USC's offense is elite.   Their defense, in my opinion, is not even close to elite.   But its hard to consider the Beavers are better than USC, or they will be able to defend those receivers.  But I do hope you are right.

I have a feeling that maybe Dillingham will continue to keep the offense dialed back for Nix because he may have accuracy issues on the longer passes.  Either that or they can't trust him to be patient because it takes time for those downfield routes to be run.

I think we will have to unleash the deep ball to beat BYU, and Utah.

  9. I am more interested in seeing the heart of the Ducks when we play BYU.  I certainly hope we win, but that is secondary to me at this point.

How will they respond when BYU hits them in the mouth like Georgia did?  This BYU team reminds me of the old Stanford teams when they were good.

And I am hoping to see some deep balls thrown.  We have the receivers and the Arm to go deep.  I really do not want to get into a slug-fest with BYU.

    Go Ducks

Former four-year Duck and USC transfer, Travis Dye, led the Trojans in rushing in yesterday's win over Stanford.

Dye rushed for 105 yards on 14 carries for a 7.5 ypc average, and one touchdown. He also caught one pass for 19 yards.

Travis is the gift that keeps on giving.

I figured we would miss his attitude.  He was the leader on the field.  Glad he is doing well at USC.    Wish he was here though.

I think they’ll do it Monday morning if they’re going to fire him. My question is who are they going to get to replace him?

Fair question.  I am guessing that with college football trying to change into a  two conference sport, it will now become easier to get quality coaches to leave other conferences to come to the BIG or SEC?    Show me the money!

I am not sure how they could do much worse than Frost regardless.

Classy post by a ND fan on one of their boards.  Did I mention I really don't like ND?

Congrats to the Marshall players. This will be the best day of your life, so enjoy it. You losers will never accomplish anything in your lives. That's why you go to Marshall.

Oh wow!  I did not realize Notre Dame lost to Marshal today.  We had a major storm here last night and my Direct TV is out until Monday.

Mario still has a chance next week in College Station. Jimbo can mis-manage a game as well as anybody.

Aside from Oregon games.  The Texas A&M vs Alabama game at College Station, will go down as one of my best football memories.  I truly enjoy watching Bama lose.

Texas has Top 10 roster talent, they should be a ranked team. Sark is in year two- the staff is now developing and getting the team to play up to its talent.

Lanning and staff need to get the Ducks developed and playing up to its talent level.

The fact Mario and staff lost took the bad losses to Utah and Chokelahoma show they weren't doing a solid coaching job,

Lanning and staff certainly didn't have the Ducks playing up to their talent level last week. We are going to see soon if the staff can fix that in year one.

I think Oregon is going to be just fine.  I think we will be playing Utah with each team having just one loss.  I still think a major bowl is on the table for Oregon.
