To add to the other excellent points made here, these are young bucks and buckettes in prime physical condition that we're talking about. I don't think adding a few hours onto a plane ride is going to make much of a difference for them. And once they're there........ A motel is a motel, regardless of what city you're in.

Another wise post by Mike West. It seems like college football is starting to look more like an English version of the second tier English Championship League, second to the NFL's Premier League.
The day may come where corporate sponsor logos that are larger than any identifying information for the team in question are pasted all over the jerseys of players just like they are for European football clubs.
I don't like it, but I agree that most of us tend to over idealize the past and dread change. If I get to see my Ducks play, I'll still be a happy man.
There's not much purity in life. Look for it where you can, but moving forward, I think it's a fool's errand for us to expect it in college sports.

Hope we get to keep him for a couple more seasons.

Well, if football doesn't work out for General Booty, he could always fall back to a career as a male stripper.

Kirby 'He So' Smart has won 2 titles. This is a list of guys not yet in Kirby's league.
12 team PO in 2023 and Kirby and 12-1 UGA would have been an extremely tough out.
Ah, thanks. I should have read the fine print.

Wow, I just can't trust a top seven list that doesn't have Kirby Smart on it

I've heard this multiple times from people who I think know what they're talking about, but I still don't understand why. Is it because offensive lineman need to work together for years as a unit to excel ? Is it because there's potentially less NIL money offered for lineman, and thus transfers are less likely to leave their current program? Other reasons? And I'm assuming there's probably more than one reason.

Oh, that poor child. I almost feel like I need to call the police.

I owe a shout-out to "CountryProf" who simply, and yet kindly, schooled me last night and gave me a good ol fashioned learnin.
At best, I was a big time doubter last night. But CountryProf 100% called it right.
Well done, and well played, Dr. CountryProf!

The "We're committed to Oregon to infinity & beyond... and we're not going anywhere... I cross my heart and hope to die, and everything" kind of talk.
I've had a PhD in clinical psychology for 20 years. I've seen a lot of clients and supervised a lot of therapists. I'm in a better position than most to gauge genuineness when I have enough data. I've been wrong before, and I will be wrong again. I don't think I'm wrong this time. And I don't engage in silly talk

Please remember, this was the same kind of silly talk that so many Duck fans had when the Taggert & Cristobol ended up on the proverbial short list.
What "silly talk" are you referring to?

After all Lanning has said about staying put in Oregon, and the genuineness I seen in him and so many players have commented on, I don't think he'll take the Alabama job if offered. Maybe I'm naive, but in this case I choose to believe.

I'm sure that Lanning & Co. realized this before the rest of us, and that people are working on an NIL deal that might help keep him at Oregon for another year. I hope it works.

I liked what I saw in Novasad after his first series, but the offense would have struggled without Nix. Ultimately, I think we would have ground out a relatively hard win because we were deeper, bigger, and faster than Liberty. But I think it would have been a nail biter for a while.

I would assume the same people who gave the massive NIL money to Nix would also pony up for a guy like him. Especially with the Marcus Mariota connection. It's a great story and one that donating businesses would want to be associated with.

Oregon Ducks Football: Undefeated Season Incoming?
in Our Beloved Ducks

I don't know. I like to dream about an undefeated season, but I've come to prefer Dan Lanning's approach. Every week is a new game, and it's always Oregon against Oregon. If they continue to take that approach and improve 1% each game, it's going to be a great season.
