Charles Fischer Administrator No. 1 Share Posted January 2, 2021 Men: I loved how they posted up Eugene "O" and even at a half-foot shorter-he is hard to stop. I am concerned about rebounding versus the great teams with this small line-up, but love the energy and flow they bring. The win over Cal was such a deceptive final score as it was only a three point lead with 5:22 left, yet won by 12. Duarte hitting some big threes pushed us over, but it indicated to me that Oregon is not a superior team, but one that will have to scrap for their victories. Women: Isn't it fun to watch the growth of the freshmen? To see Watson getting better due to the minutes with Sabally out, (foul trouble) was great to see. An explosive second quarter built a lead that remained through the game... Mr. FishDuck
30Duck Moderator No. 2 Share Posted January 2, 2021 Two great games for our basketball teams. The Men went through a 6 minute drought in the first half, but Aaron Estrada's shot at the buzzer gave them a lead and they never looked back. Eugene O is a consistent scoring threat in the paint, a type of player Altman only had before in Joevan Catron his first season, and he wasn't as good as Eugene O. Tonight, the Ducks face Stanford, 7:00 on ESPN2 Duarte has found his game. It looked a while that he was a bit lost without Pritchard, but in the last couple of games he is back to the type of game we got used to. This team is already good, and Will Richardson could be back in around two weeks. When he is fully assimilated, this team will be scary good. The Women. They aren't as good as last season's team. but they're closer than any other team is. Taylor Chavez was called back to Arizona for personal reasons, and Jaz Shelley was inserted in to the starting line-up. Jaz responded with her best game of the season. Te-Hina PaoPao, again looked like a seasoned vet. Taylor Mikesell found her 3 point shot again, and Erin Boley, now free to roam the court, made plays everywhere, Kylee Watson need only work on her free throw shooting. It was great, that on one she banked in, she couldn't hide the grin on her face. The depth on the team is incredible. #1 Stanford blew out #6 Arizona, 81-54. It will be a great test when the Ducks and Cardinals meet later this month. But before that, UCLA @ Oregon, Sunday, 1:00 on the Pac-12 Network.
