For the first time in the 2020s, the Ducks will enter a season without Alex Forsyth on the roster. The longtime starting center has moved on after a trio of seasons heading the offense.

It remains unclear who will replace him. Jackson Powers-Johnson and Marcus Harper are seen as the most likely replacements, but an injury sidelined Harper for the final few weeks of spring, making it a challenge to assess the competition's current standing.

Powers-Johnson believes the two years spent with Forsyth have provided him the confidence to take over if it is his time.

"Alex was, and it sucks to say 'was' because he's not here anymore, such a big part of my development at center," Powers-Johnson said during an episode of the Autzen Audibles podcast. "Older guys can be done with the practice and just walk off the field, but he always stayed after."
