College Football's 23 Most Meaningful Games During 2023 Season

Recommended Posts

With conference title implications and the Playoff picture in mind, these matchups mean more than anything.

College football's 2023 season features a robust slate of must-watch games every weekend, but how many of those matchups are high enough on the importance scale to be included in a "meaningful games" ranking? We're glad you asked.

These are matchups we feel will directly impact conference championship races and, more importantly, the College Football Playoff picture this fall. Not to be confused with the most intriguing games this season, these contests are considerably higher on the impact scale and should be included on each elite program's campaign-defining lists.

Our Ducks land on the list several times!

Someone is paying attention to the Left Coast? Who knew?

Love the Civil War Game at 22. SC in Autzen at 11. And, Oregon at UW at 9. Also good to see Utah at SC at 11 and UW at SC  at 7. Not so good to see these 2 games being played in LA. But USC does have to play both Cal and Stanford with the Cal game being played in Berkeley. (Now that SC is off to the B1G can we talk Stanford out-of-scheduling Notre Dame and helping with the Domers recruiting in California?)

Speaking of the B1G - Iowa at Wisconsin comes in at 12. Why? The B1G W division punching bag will be punched out by Ohio State, Michigan, or Penn State.

2. LSU at Alabama and 1. Ohio State at Michigan are clearly both likely to be impactful games but the loser of these games as we have seen before with Ohio State could both make the final Final 4. Especially if Bama defeats Texas in Tuscaloosa, LSU defeats FSU in Orlando and Ohio State wins in South Bend.
