Dan Lanning: Confident in Oregon's Ability to Blend in Over 50 Newcomers

Recommended Posts

The Ducks will see over 50 newcomers join the program for the 2023 season and head coach Dan Lanning is confident they'll blend in well with the program's loaded returners.

The Oregon offseason has been all about developing team chemistry and forging relationships so that when the games start in the fall teammates trust one another and know one another better.

Mix in a handful of redshirt freshmen who saw limited action last year and the Ducks have over half their team as newcomers. Leaning on their veteran leadership will be critical to Oregon's success.

"I hope a big one. We have over 45 newcomers on scholarship, almost over 50 players on our team that are new to our roster, and you hope that they do a great job of transitioning in with the guys that we already have here," said head coach Dan Lanning. "Some great veteran leadership that exists on our team."

Lanning noted he's started to see his program's leaders push their way into developing the newcomers. He commented that's a sign of where you really have a team all bought in.

He noted he's seen that pop up this offseason as his returners became comfortable within the system and now can help bring along the underclassmen and newcomers.
