THE OREGON FOOTBALL TEAM MET WITH LOCAL MEDIA MONDAY, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE START OF PRESEASON CAMP FOR THE 2023 SEASON.

Preseason camp begins Wednesday for the Oregon football team, which is entering its second season under head coach Dan Lanning and the last in the current configuration of the Pac-12 Conference.

At the program's preseason media day for local reporters Monday, Lanning largely avoided big-picture topics such as conference realignment. But he and several dozen players addressed the state of the Ducks' program entering practice Wednesday afternoon, a little more than four weeks out from the regular-season opener against Portland State in Autzen Stadium on Sept. 2.

Some takeaways from Monday's media day session in The Club at Autzen Stadium...Player interviews will appear on their own posts.

New transfer portal additions outline why Oregon was the choice

Oregon has added more than a dozen players from the transfer portal. Ten addressed media members for the first time on Monday afternoon. Each provided an explanation for why Oregon was the choice.

Oregon reloaded its roster this offseason with the addition of 15 transfer portal players. The majority of those players are expected to play sizable roles this fall.

Monday's Oregon media day provided the first opportunity to speak with 10 of Oregon's new additions. Most of the players enrolled in spring spoke in April, while others like Jordan Burch and Traeshon Holden among others did not. Additional portal players have been added since spring ball's conclusion.

Each of these new players was asked why Oregon was the choice. Here is a rundown of all 10 player's answers from the school's media day.

You can expect to find more in-depth stories written on each of these players journeys to Oregon in the coming days and weeks.

Meet the new Ducks: What UO transfers want Oregon fans to know about them

The 2023 college football season unofficially kicked off on Monday afternoon for the Oregon Ducks with the annual media day taking place inside the club level at Autzen Stadium.

There, media members got a chance to sit down and talk to over 40 of the players on the team and get their perspectives going into the new season. It offered an opportunity to talk to a handful of new players on the team for the first time.

That’s what I was focused on. With over 50 players on the roster this season that will be wearing the green and yellow for the first time, I wanted to take the chance and find out what Oregon fans who knew nothing about these players, should know about these players.

What better source than the players themselves? I asked the incoming transfers — all but two of them I could get to due to interview scheduling — what they wanted Duck fans to know about them and who they are going into the season.

These are the answers I got.
