Oregon fans react on social media to Ducks' record-breaking win over ASU on Saturday

Oregon Duck fans were expecting a big day down in the desert, and that’s exactly what they got.

Dan Lanning and his team absolutely dominated from start to finish, breaking records throughout the day and never leaving an ounce of doubt that they were the far superior team.

It ended in a 49-13 blowout for the Ducks that saw most of the starters on the team relaxing on the sideline for the final two quarters of the game while depth players on the roster got some good experience.

As you would expect, it was an enjoyable afternoon for Duck fans on social media, with a common theme being the fact that the No. 5 Washington Huskies struggled mightily against this Arizona State team a few weeks ago, failing to score an offensive touchdown in a 15-7 victory.

Here are some of the best reactions and jokes from the game on social media...

Instant Reactions from Oregon's blowout win at Arizona State

Tempe, Arizona - The No. 6 ranked Oregon Ducks delivered a statement win down in the desert at Arizona State Saturday afternoon.

It was clear from the very beginning the Ducks had an advantage on both sides of the football, and it was reflected in the score as the Ducks won 49-13 to improve to 10-1 on the season.

The Ducks delivered the first win down at Arizona State since the 2015 season when they won in triple-overtime.

Oregon was able to score touchdowns on its first six drives of the game and built a very impressive 42-0 halftime lead over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The game delivered huge numbers for Oregon as a team but also saw multiple Oregon Ducks set school records and personal career highs across the board.

The Ducks now turn their attention towards Friday night's home game and Senior Day against Oregon State to close out the Pac-12 regular season.

Here are the main takeaways from the win by the Ducks and what it means moving forward for Oregon...

Bo Nix, Ducks blitz Sun Devils from opening snap in record-breaking day in desert

Bo Nix wasn't messing around in the desert on Saturday, and neither were his teammates.

Another disappointing November loss to the Sun Devils in Tempe was never a possibility.

Led by Nix's sublime play, the sixth-ranked Ducks scored touchdowns on all six of their first half drives and kept ASU from scoring in it to blitz the home squad en route to a 49-13 win at Mountain America Stadium.

The win earns the Ducks yet another 10-win season and moves them one win from clinching a spot in next month's Pac-12 Championship game in Las Vegas where a possible rematch with No. 5 Washington looms...

Instant Reactions: Ducks down Arizona hex with massive win vs. ASU

Anyone would be hard-pressed to name a better college quarterback right now.

Oregon’s Bo Nix might be the leading contender for the Heisman Trophy after throwing for nearly 400 yards and six touchdowns in one half of play. The Ducks scored on their first six possessions, took a 42-0 halftime lead to eventually take a 49-13 rout over Arizona State.

In the midst of all the points scored, Troy Franklin became the program’s leading all-time receiver with 23 career touchdowns, 13 this season, also a record and two in this game. He wound up with eight catches for 128 yards.

Nix’s six scores through the was also a personal best. He now has 35 touchdowns and just two interceptions for the season.

Now the Ducks will prepare for the regular season finale, the Civil War with Oregon State on Friday with a trip to the Pac-12 title game on the line...

Recap: No. 6 Oregon wins fifth straight in rout over ASU

The last road game of the season was arguably the least challenging for Oregon. The crowd in Tempe featured plenty of green and yellow in support of the No. 6-ranked Ducks in their 49-13 victory over the Sun Devils.

Oregon (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) had a lot to focus in this matchup against former Oregon OC Kenny Dillingham. Arizona State (3-8, 2-6 Pac-12) is a team that has improved in the latter part of the season, picking up two victories in its last three games.

Nobody on the home sideline wanted to pull off the upset more than Dillingham, but doing so was quite the task...

3 takeaways from Oregon's blistering win over Arizona State

Oregon was too much for Arizona State. That was a known fact heading into Saturday’s showdown in Tempe. The only question was whether the Ducks would act like it in the desert.

Or would Dan Lanning’s squad get caught looking ahead? Caught feeling themselves? Caught slipping right before the finish line?

The answer was a resounding no.

As Oregon has done all season, the Ducks handled their business. Oregon scored three touchdowns in the first quarter, three more touchdowns in the second quarter, and cruised to a 49-13 win over Arizona State to move to 10-1 on the year.

The Ducks are within one win (or one Oregon State loss to UW) of the Pac-12 Championship Game. And they’re two wins away from the College Football Playoff. That pressure didn’t matter against the Sun Devils.

Here are three takeaways from the game...

10 major takeaways from Oregon Ducks' record-breaking 49-13 win in the desert

For experienced fans of the Oregon Ducks, a late November trip to the desert to play either of the Arizona schools is always an idea that is met with some timidness. That’s a place where good seasons have gone to die over the years.

That wasn’t the case this year under Dan Lanning. On Saturday afternoon, the Ducks got their first-ever November win at Arizona State, blowing out the Sun Devils to the tune of a 49-13 win that was more than over by halftime.

Bo Nix tied the school record for most passing touchdowns in a single game with six, all of which came in the first half of a game that was 42-0 at the break.

The Ducks’ defense pitched a shutout until the starters were far away from the field, and in general, the Ducks got a great opportunity to rest and prepare for what is undoubtedly going to be a highly intense game next week against the Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways I had from the afternoon...

Record-Setting Day Yields 10th Win

Multiple Ducks set UO records as the No. 6 Oregon football team improved to 10-1 with a 49-13 win Saturday at Arizona State.

Oregon football's record book will require several rewrites after Saturday's performance at Arizona State. And the Ducks kept themselves on track to write even more history for themselves as this season continues.

Troy Franklin set multiple UO single-season receiving records, Camden Lewis became the program's all-time leading scorer and Bo Nix tied the school record with six touchdown passes — all in the first half — as the No. 6 Ducks beat Arizona State, 49-13, before 44,741 fans at Mountain America Stadium.

Oregon's defense pitched a first-half shutout as the Ducks took a 42-0 lead into halftime, before getting extensive playing time for their rotation players.

The Ducks (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) have at least 10 wins in their first 11 games for the sixth time in program history.

They remained on track to earn a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game and in the race for a College Football Playoff berth, entering Friday's regular-season finale against Oregon State at Autzen Stadium...

'Go win the Natty;' Kenny Dillingham wishes former team well after blowout loss to Ducks

Former Oregon offensive coordinator and current Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham still has a ton of love for his past employer.

After the Ducks came into Tempe and routed his Sun Devils 49-13, Dillingham says he wants Oregon to win everything.

“Win the Pac-12, win the Natty,” was his departing message to Dan Lanning and the Ducks.

The sentiment is a nice one, especially since Dillingham’s departure wasn’t exactly filled with roses last season.

Many thought his mind was elsewhere for last year’s Civil War as he took to ASU job shortly afterwards that loss to the Beavers...

After seeing his former quarterback Bo Nix torch his Sun Devils, Kenny Dillingham wants the Ducks to win the whole thing.

Statistically speaking: Oregon football, Georgia only teams in top 10 in scoring offense, defense

Oregon is one of just two teams ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring offense and defense.

The No. 6 Ducks are 2nd in scoring offense (46.5 points) and 10th in scoring defense (16.7 ppg.) following their 49-13 win over Arizona State.

Only top-ranked Georgia is also in the top 10 in both categories, though Alabama, Florida State, Michigan and Notre Dame are all in the top 20 in both.

Oregon hadn’t won a football game in Arizona in November in 5 years heading into the night.

Fueled by another Heisman caliber performance from Bo Nix, the Duck offense blew the doors off what had been billed as a tough Arizona State defense. Meanwhile, Oregon’s defense bottled up do-everything back Cameron Skattebo.

Stock Report: Patrick Herbert thrives, Cole Martin shines, and Ty Thompson drops a dime

One of the things that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has stressed all season long is the need for his team to play a complete game.

Earlier this year against the Utah Utes is the only game that Lanning has classified as a complete game from start to finish, where the Ducks didn’t let up in their dominance for a second.

I think you could argue that Oregon was incredibly close to getting that done on Saturday in a 49-13 win over Arizona State.

With six touchdowns on six drives in the first half, all of which were TD passes for Bo Nix, the Ducks were as dominant as we’ve seen this year, winning in every facet of the game.

They gave up some scores in the second half when starters were pulled from the game, but it’s easy to see how good the Ducks can be when they play to their ceiling.

With all of that being said, it was hard to find much for Oregon to improve on this week when looking at our stock report.

We usually try and find some things that could be better for Dan Lanning’s team after a game, but in Week 12, it was nothing but stocks on the rise in Eugene.

Here’s our weekly stock report...

Report Card: Perfect first half leads to relaxing second half at ASU

It’s difficult to be “perfect” in the game of football, but the Oregon Ducks were nearly that in the first half of their 49-13 win over Arizona State.

Oregon had the ball six times in the first half and scored six touchdowns to take a commanding 42-0 lead. The defense was also able to hold the Sun Devils off the scoreboard despite their unconventional offensive sets.

The highlight was the 98-yard touchdown drive that took a whole 58 seconds to march down the field for the sixth score. Oregon could have easily run the clock out, but the Ducks wanted more and set a tone, not only for that game, but for the Civil War coming up on Friday.

Here’s the happy report card for the No. 6-ranked Ducks that moved to 10-1 on the season...

Kenny Dillingham compares Oregon Ducks to 2022 Georgia Bulldogs

When you talk to opposing head coaches after a blowout loss, they usually aren’t too interested in discussing the team that just beat them.

Most will offer their respect and declare that the team they played is very talented, but be quicker to lament on the things that they could have done better to get their guys prepared.

For Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham, though, there was no shortage of praise for the Oregon Ducks, his former team, on Saturday following a 49-13 blowout.

Whether it was lauding Bo Nix as the Heisman Trophy leader, or declaring that this Oregon team is as good as he’s seen in his career,

Dillingham showed a lot of love for what Dan Lanning and the Ducks have going in Eugene.

Here are some of the top things that he had to say after the game...

As the season has gone one, we’ve got a clearer and clearer picture as to who the best teams in the nation are. That’s given us a great idea as to who the best offenses in the nation on.

It’s not hard to see that the Oregon Ducks are one of them.

Across the board, no matter which statistic you wish to look at, Bo Nix and Will Stein are putting on a master class in scoring points, and they continually are making it look easy.

Where Oregon's defense ranks nationally in key statistics after win over ASU

Had it not been for a couple of late scores from Arizona State long after the starters had been pulled from the game for the Oregon Ducks, the stats from this contest could have looked pretty unbelievable.

As it stands, Oregon only gave up 13 points to the Sun Devils, zero of which came in the first half of the game.

At this point of the season, it’s become pretty clear that the Ducks have one of the better defenses in the nation, ranking near the top of the list in some key statistics that we routinely point toward in order to determine overall success.

Heading into a pivotal rivalry game against the Oregon State Beavers, here’s where they now stand in those key statistics...
