NJDuck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted December 5, 2023 Unbeaten Liberty and Flames coach Jamey Chadwell hoped to face an Oregon team without Bo Nix in the Fiesta Bowl, but the Heisman finalist will play one more game with the Ducks. The decorated fifth-year senior will add to his school record-setting offensive totals in the Fiesta Bowl. "We know how good they are," Chadwell said this week. "Disappointed Bo Nix is going to play, I was hoping he was going to hold out and wasn’t going to play any against us. I have a relationship with Bo’s father going back from a FCA football camp, we actually coached at the same place together. Bo is a tremendous player, we are looking forward to going against what could be a Heisman winner.” Liberty earned the Group of Five's auto-berth in the New Year's Six after upending New Mexico State over the weekend, just before SMU toppled Tulane in the AAC title game. That was enough to push the Flames ahead of SMU and Tulane in the selection committee's final top 25. And now, Chadwell gets a chance to show his team off to the rest of the country on the grandest of stages. Here's what Chadwell said about playing Oregon, his team and the opportunity ahead: Liberty's Jamey Chadwell hoped Oregon's Bo Nix would skip Fiesta Bowl T.CO The Group of Five champions are heavy underdogs against the Pac-12's runner-up.
