The All-B12 QB in 2023 was some guy named Dillon Gabriel, not Quinn Ewers, and not Will Howard. Dante Moore has experience as a starter in the Power 4. Archie Manning had a good spring game. Ohio State stud QB transfer from Bama, Julian Sayin, looked lost in the spring game and threw multiple interceptions. Based on the schedules, Utah at No. 1 makes sense. Utah plays OK State in Stillwater but does not play No. 2 K State and No.3 Kansas in the regular season. Utah plays Arizona in SLC. I think 9-3 is a good call on Michigan in 2024. It could be worse if one of the QBs on the roster, no QB transfers in, does not step up. "Beneficial?" Rematch with Boise? Liberty with its schedule has a good shot of going 13-0. I don't think that the Boise loss to Oregon will be its only loss of the season. Boise has a terrific RB but will the QB who could not get on the field at SC be all that for Boise? Regardless, if Oregon does not win the B1G the 5th seed is as good as it gets. The Ducks will defeat the G5 representative, Clemson in Atlanta. Georgia in Miami, Ohio State in Atlanta. How is this "beneficial?" This is one of many takes on the 2024 playoff that does not consider where the games will be played. And Utah beating Texas? I don't see it. Even if Rising is still standing he and the Utah O are not Penix and the 2023-24 UW O. Texas would have as many or more fans in the Fiesta Bowl as Utah. And a far better roster. I believe that Oregon could go 2-0 in Dixie vs. Clemson and Georgia but the win against UGA in the Orange Bowl? That's a bold call. Clemson to Atlanta is a 2-hour drive from the Clemson campus. This would be a home game for Clemson, a university located in the small town of Clemson that sells out an 80,000-seat stadium for every home game. For Oregon to finish with the 5-seed and Ohio State with the 2nd seed, Oregon would likely have to split with the Buckeyes. Win in Autzen and drop the conference champ game in Indianapolis and finish 12-1 with Ohio State also finishing 12-1 but winning the conference title. 12-1 with the 2024 Oregon schedule is a B1G ask. I think that Ohio State at Oregon on 10/12/24 will be a prime-time game, 4:30 Pacific time kick-off, and the Penn State at USC game the same weekend could be played on Friday night. PSU would be coming off a home game vs UCLA and USC off an away game vs Minnesota. I don't believe the teams would be happy about a short week before the game. There are so many impactful games on 10/12 including Oklahoma vs Texas that there will be broadcast conflicts. Lay down your money evenly on Missouri, Ole Miss, Bama, Texas, and UGA and you will not get much of a return. With LSU playing Ole Miss, Bama, and Oklahoma at home and the two toughest road games at A+M and Florida, I think the Bayou Bengals have a decent shot at making the Delightful Dozen; you have to make the field before you can win a title. But LSU at +1500 based on the schedules, Mizzou at Bama, and A+M and gets its other top 30 ranked opponent, Oklahoma at home, at +3000 is the better bet. Buying both Ohio State and Oregon makes some sense as both have an excellent chance to be in the field. No matter the QB for Ohio State, I think Oregon with Gabriel will have the better QB. Oregon at +900 and Ohio State at +425 would have me place a bet on the Ducks. Frankly, I don't think these odds support a bet so far out in the future. Clemson and FSU are both Buys? Clemson plays at FSU in a battle of under-achieving QBs, DJU, and Clemson's Klublik. Clemson opens against UGA in Atlanta which will likely be a loss. FSU travels to Notre Dame, and Clemson misses Notre Dame. One or the other could be a decent bet, maybe? I don't think that any ACC team has the chops to win it all. Will a 10-2 Notre Dame with a 12-game schedule and no champ game be in the running for a playoff spot? I'd like to think not. I think ND will lose the bookend games, at A+M to open and at USC to close, and will lose one more game, FSU or possibly Louisville or an upset loss, to finish 9-3. At least I hope so. But the Oklahoma and Texas schedules remain the same with different home and away venues in 2025 while Ohio State and Michigan drop off the Ducks schedule. With Super Sized conferences, the intra-conference SOS will vary widely. I am surprised many SEC ADs did not raise a stink over repeat schedules in 2025. 16 teams and 8 conference games? Are you a conference or an ATM?
