This is what leaves the door open for Bama to supplant SMU if they lose to Clemson. SMU’s best wins are Pitt and Louisville who are no longer ranked. Should be a fun weekend coming up. I thought Miami at #12 was interesting, but they have no shot at the playoff since the Big 12 Champ will move into the playoff. The only two teams in the top 12 right now that can be supplanted by their CCG opponents are Boise State and SMU. Duckman60 No. 2 Share Posted yesterday at 12:59 AM Rece Davis was really terrible about asking questions about Championship weekend and how that would impact teams. He should have asked about Clemson/SMU & BSU/UNLV. The Committee said that they would not punish a team for playing in a championship game but they will. Currently Boise State is 10th and SMU is 8th, if they both lose their Championship game they should still be in (They said they wouldn't punish teams) and Clemson and UNLV would also be in. That would mean Alabama and Indiana would be out. Will they have the guts to do what they said or be too afraid of a SEC backlash?

DrJacksPlaidPants Author Moderator No. 4 Share Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM The protocols that the committee uses in this article might as well be labeled the “blue blood or SEC clause”. They place a pretty big emphasis on championships won, strength of schedule, availability of key players, etc. They’ve taken all the shady decisions from past committees and codified them. These protocols give them the justification to fill the tournament with SEC and B1G teams. How does College Football Playoff work?
