The Oregon Ducks’ victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions was the most-watched game on CBS this college football season and the second-most watched game during conference championship weekend, according to sportsmediawatch.com. The Big Ten title game averaged a 5.2 rating and 10.50 million viewers on CBS, a spike of roughly 5% from last year’s championship matchup between Michigan and Iowa, which aired on FOX. The 10.50 million viewers on Saturday shattered what had been the most-watched Big Ten game of the season, a September showdown between reigning-champion Michigan and USC that drew 6.32 million. The No. 1 Ducks and No. 3 Nittany Lions went head-to-head with the ACC championship (Clemson vs. SMU) and drew nearly twice as many viewers (6.0 million). Only one college football game was more popular last weekend — the SEC championship (Georgia vs. Texas), which lured an average of 16.6 viewers to ABC.
