But the universe of teams that have enough depth to survive three or four Playoff games while also having the firepower to take down a monster is always going to be very, very small."

Likewise true of NCAA women's basketball 1990-2016.   If you weren't Tennessee or UConn, your chances were very very slim.

With a proper format the CFP could be as challenging and exciting as "March Madness" The idea of not having your team eliminated by a loss in September should be a good one. Having better players and coaches should give a team an advantage in winning a championship. The regular season has to still be important.
