HDuck No. 3 Share Posted April 14 I believe the 2017 season started 37-4, then was 38-6 when it got the 38th victory. Don't mean to diminish the 2025 accomplishment, but 2017 was playing Pac12 softball competition. 2017 final rankings 3-UW 4-Oregon 5-UCLA 9-Arizona 14-Utah 23-ASU 26-Cal 2025 current ranking 4-Oregon 7-UCLA 23-Nebraska 24-Ohio St

You know, if it was just based on numbers, 2017 is definitely superior, Pac-12 Softball was a beast. But numbers had the Seattle Mariners of 2001 poised to be the greatest team ever after a 116-46 regular season, but they didn't even make it to the World Series. Who's to say which team would prevail in a 3 gamer between 2017-2025? That 2017 team was in the middle of a historic run. When Lombardi got to Oregon, in 2018, the team was in shambles, now it's 38-4, The Jane is rockin' again! No way can they be diminished. 2

I would take the 2017 team to win the series against this 2025 team. I am very impressed with the talent that Lombardi has assemble for the 2025 team. The pitching talent has finally gotten the Ducks back to an elite level and the freshman class is unbelievably talented and productive. The 2017 team had Jenna Lilley, Nikki Udria, Shannon Rhodes, Alexis Mack, Gwen Svekis, Haley Cruse and pitcher Miranda Elish just to name a few. Those players are why I would choose the 2017 team. The Mike White era was a great time to be a Duck Softball fan. I hope Oregon can win the series against UCLA this weekend and make the title game of the Big Ten conference tournament. Unfortunately they will probably need to have that type of success to receive a top 8 seed. The non league wins over Tennessee and FSU will help in seeding but the home losses to OSU and LMU hurt just as much as those wins help. We must beat OSU tomorrow. Under Lombardi, I felt we deserved to host a regional a couple of times but we were relegated to a #2 regional seed instead. The year they sent us to Texas just to have a match up with Mike White's Texas team was very frustrating. Given the selection committees past history of over looking Coach Lombardi lead Duck teams they must continue to win because the committee will look for any reason to not give us a top 8 seed. Udria was my favorite, Mack, the slap hitter. The element about those teams I'll always remember was whenever a team, tied it up, or somehow took the lead, the next inning, the Ducks set it right again. '17 probably would win the series between '25. But that just says how unbelievably good they were.
