30Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted yesterday at 02:05 PM When Oregon pitches well, we can take on anybody as proven this weekend with Beavis. We have good batters, superb fielding, and when the pitching holds up--look out! Starter Jason Reitz only gave up one run, and the bullpen only gave up one as well. Can't ask for much more, and I am going to be IMPOSSIBLE to be around for a while! Game summary later at the bottom of the thread. What a dream series! ------------------------------------------------------------ These last two games have been heaven for me, and while the official series is three games....Oregon plays Oregon State on Tuesday in Corvallis. Winning three out of four could go a long way towards helping Oregon get to host a Regional Playoff, if all goes well the rest of the way on the schedule. Go Ducks! Not even close... 1 1

Charles Fischer Administrator No. 4 Share Posted 21 hours ago 1-0 Oregon State after two innings. Oregon starter Jason Reitz was doing great with two easy outs in the second inning....and then lost it. He walked FOUR in a row to score the OSU run, and then got a fly-out. Can he hold up? A SWEET double-play in the first inning... Mr. FishDuck
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 5 Share Posted 21 hours ago 1-0 Oregon State after three innings. Oregon's pitcher Jason Reitz came back and was superb,as he dispatched the OSU batters easily. However Our Beloved Ducks can barely put a bat on the opposing pitcher, as he's really good today... Mr. FishDuck
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 6 Share Posted 20 hours ago 2-1 Ducks after four innings, as Reitz put Beavis down easily, and the Oregon bats got going! First we have Jacob Walsh evening up the score in a way that only HE can... When it is evident we have a tight game, Coach Waz is able to switch to Small-Ball to score. Drew Smith draws a walk, and then Anson Aroz bunt-sacrificed to move him to second. Then Smith steals third, and Maddox Molony hits him in! Great Baseball! Charles Fischer Administrator No. 7 Share Posted 20 hours ago 2-1 Ducks after five innings, as Oregon's Jason Reitz put down the Oregon State batters 1-2-3. Ducks could not produce any runs this inning, and I see that Ian Umlandt, The Pride of Sherwood Oregon, is coming out to pitch the sixth. This in-state player that would love to spoil things for Beavis. Mr. FishDuck
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 8 Share Posted 20 hours ago 3-1 Ducks after six innings, as The Pride of Sherwood Oregon, Ian Umlandt, kept Beavis scoreless in the inning, while the Pride of Springfield, Maddox Molony, crushed a pitch to Oregon State bullpen to add another score! Charles Fischer Administrator No. 9 Share Posted 20 hours ago 3-1 Ducks after seven innings, as Oregon's Ian Umlandt stopped the Beavis scoring threat again... Charles Fischer Administrator No. 10 Share Posted 19 hours ago 3-2 Ducks after eight innings, as Umlandt gave up a homer to Beavis, and Cole Stokes blew his 97 mph stuff for Oregon to close the side. Charles Fischer Administrator No. 11 Share Posted 19 hours ago Oregon Wins 3-2 over Oregon State for the first sweep of a top three team EVER in program history! Seth Mattox came out to the hill for the Ducks, and gave up a double on the first batter, and then Santiago Garcia came in and put Beavis away. The last batter was a very dramatic strike-out, and the crowd went nuts. What a win! More coming! 1 1 3 Mr. FishDuck

Charles Fischer Administrator No. 13 Share Posted 16 hours ago Sweep! Ducks Beat Beavers Again on Sunday EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon baseball has been searching for some consistency. For three days, at least, the Ducks found it, with historic results. The UO baseball team completed a sweep against a top-three opponent for the first time Sunday, with the No. 13 Ducks beating No. 3 Oregon State, 3-2, before the third consecutive sellout crowd at PK Park. Oregon came into the weekend playing .500 baseball over its previous 14 games, but finished off its first sweep of OSU since 2021. “It's huge,” said UO senior first baseman Jacob Walsh, who homered in all three games. “I think it shows everyone how good we really are. It's a good weekend to start building off of going into the end of the season.” The Ducks (30-12) came from behind Sunday, with Maddox Molony driving in a run after Walsh’s fourth-inning homer to make it 2-1, before Molony’s second homer in as many days provided much-needed insurance in the sixth. That made a winner of Jason Reitz (2-0), and Santiago Garcia earned his second save as the UO bullpen got the last six outs after OSU made it a one-run game again. “That's a good team that we played, and we were able to win today and get a couple more on the weekend to beat a good team,” UO coach Mark Wasikowski said. “So, yeah, I think that was probably good for our guys to be able to see that and see that we can win a lot of different ways.” Jason Reitz How It Happened: After Reitz faced the minimum in the top of the first, the Ducks struck out three times in the bottom of the inning against OSU starter Ethan Kleinschmit — kicking off a game in which Oregon struck out 17 times. But as Wasikowski said, they found a way regardless. Reitz temporarily lost command with two outs in the second, walking four straight batters as the Beavers took a 1-0 lead. Wasikowski said the coaching staff was considering a pitching change to start the third, but Reitz lobbied to stay in the game, and UO pitching allowed a lone solo home run the rest of the way. “I’m so proud of the guys,” said Reitz, who allowed only one hit and the one run over five innings. “It was so fun to be around, and I think that's a really good step for us. Everyone came in with the mentality of just getting after it and not backing down from anyone.” The Ducks were hitless with seven strikeouts through three innings. That all changed in the fourth, when Walsh ambushed the first pitch of the inning for his UO-record 54th career homer. “I got that one pretty good,” he said. “That was a nice one.” Oregon continued to take advantage of opportunities on the basepaths, as Drew Smith followed Walsh’s homer with a walk, was bunted to second and stole third. Molony then gave Oregon the lead with an RBI single to center. Santiago Garcia celebrates his final strike vs. Oregon State Ian Umlandt replaced Reitz to start the sixth and pitching around a leadoff single. Molony made it 3-1 in the bottom of the inning, with a two-out homer in an inning when Kleinschmit struck out three more Ducks. Umlandt left after a leadoff homer in the eighth, and Cole Stokes came on to preserve the 3-2 lead. Seth Mattox and Garcia combined to pitch the ninth, in front of a jubilant PK Park crowd that produced so much noise Garcia had to step off the mound at one point because he couldn’t hear the pitch call in his ear. “It’s awesome,” Garcia said of pitching in that atmosphere. “Man, coming from JUCO with like 24 people watching us and going straight to here, it was pretty good.” Garcia entered with one out and a runner on second before retiring the side, striking out the final hitter of the game. Dave23 No. 14 Share Posted 12 hours ago Now that was an excellent weekend of baseball! Super excited for this team to go out and be able to adapt to the game. They played small ball when needed and then they went on a huge run of consistent batting to mass a 13-1 pummeling in game 2. Followed by another pitching duel in game 3. The Ducks held the Beavs to 5 runs in 3 games while they racked up 20 runs. This is a testament to some excellent pitching, feilding, batting and base running, played 3 complete game with few to little errors. Can't forget to mention the coaching. The biggest difference in the 2 close games was game strategy and the manufacturing points off of minimal hints with minimal base runners. Every part of this team was firing on all cylinders this weekend. Now go out there and do the same on Tuesday.
Charles Fischer Administrator No. 15 Share Posted 12 hours ago I stated going into the UCLA series that up to that time...for every team we played....we were the hunted, the ranked team they wanted to beat, and everybody raised their game when they played us. I was hoping that facing a higher set of ranked teams in No. 10 UCLA and No. 3 Oregon State, that we were now the hunter--and it would inspire our best efforts which would not only win games, but allow the team to see their true upside. And THAT is what happened! 1 Mr. FishDuck

spartan2785 No. 19 Share Posted 52 minutes ago Pretty awesome, wish I could have been there this past weekend, sounds like it was a great environment. Going to be interesting to see where the Ducks are ranked. It's a huge win for the quest to hosting a regional. I'm pretty doubtful we can get into the top 8, but I do think we could get a regional.

Beavs were No.3, their highest of the season, OBD at No.13, their highest. 13 sweeps 3 at home? I'll go Beavs drop to 6, OBD to 10. So, not 8 yet.
