From an article in The Athletic...

"Big 12 athletic directors recently met on the idea, and conference presidents talked about it on Monday. But the determination was that the league is not interested. One source said there was “very little momentum for this,” and multiple league sources expressed concern that adding Memphis could “dilute” the league’s value in the next television deal."

The Big-12 media contract is 33 million per school, compared to our

B1G media payout of 54 million. The Big-12 cannot afford to split it further...

Imagine if we had taken the Apple deal at 24 million...or even ESPN's at 30 million.

No wonder they're bitter, they are Beavis.

If Memphis was willing to buy their way in with that much $$$ behind them, and get rejected, imagine the $$$ threshold that UNLV, OSU, WSU would have to offer to get a sniff from the Big12.

It will never happen….

They tried to SMU their way in. Maybe if they forgo five years of any payout from television revenue it might work. I guess that PAC Who invite isn't as prestigious, as Memphis is willing to go paying 200 million plus to get in the "truck stop conference".
