Transfer Portal Losses Well Over 20 Leaving Now...

Featured Replies

How can we sustain a class or even next year with this many leaving, understand where some of these kids are coming from wanting playing time. Unfortunately there is a lack of talent in the portal. Indiana and others have taken up a lot of talent in the portal already. I've had faith in Dan the man, but its starting to loose its luster a tad.

Always a fan, born and raised in oregon wanting better for our team, but this really hurts IMO. Hopingand praying we can do better. We need some fresh coaching on offense keep seeing the same old plays

Did you see any STARTERS leaving? No. It is routine for those who do not start to want playing time elsewhere, and while it appears to hurt our depth...we don't know the full story yet between transfers to Oregon and the HS recruiting class coming in to provide depth. Perhaps you are new at this?

Funny...I do not recall seeing you post when things were great,...just when you have a complaint?

James Crepea, earlier today when Purchase announcement was made as No. 17 guy

Purchase's 352 defensive snaps were 14th for Oregon, 3rd among edge defenders

With 16 scholarship and 2 PWO transfers so far Oregon has lost players that saw a combined 879 defensive snaps and 621 offensive snaps,

For perspective, the season team total plays snaps:  988 offense, 932 defense  (15 games).

So, Purchase would have been on the field for 352/932 = 37.8% of the snaps.

All defensive players:  879 snaps out of 10,252 (932x11players) = 8.6%.

All offensive players:  621 snaps out of 10,868 (988x11players) = 5.7%

But, keep in mind those small percentages are just players who are in the portal.  Seniors who played and are graduating would have to be added if you were calculating the total amount of snap experience not returning next season.

But, Charles point still applies: the portal guys (not the graduating guys) may have been able to help next year, but they were seeking a guarantee of playing time they didn't have this season.

Charles yoir right, and this isnt a complaint at all, hard to keep it rolling 25 players would represent what 20 to 25 percent of the roster, crazy numbers, this is quite a bit more then what the average teams are loosing. Just saying red flag? Perhaps? Maybe not? But thats a ton of depth off the roster either way. I hate seeing kids jumping ship like this, it iddnt help our RB depth in the end while still playing. Just an opinion or obervation

Everyone here uses good punctuation for the reading ease of others; please reciprocate the same courtesy back, as you can click the three dots in the upper right corner of your post and edit within an hour of posting.

In reference to your post, it is apparent you have not followed this before. Every year we have massive portal transfers of those who did not start, and we get highly experienced great players who portal transfer in.

I suggest you withhold judgment of how the program is being run until after the portal period has ended.

Thanks.
