Guest Axel No. 3 Share Posted April 8, 2022 (edited) Should we be scared? Here come the big, bad Ball State Cardinals, (12-2 in the Mighty-American Conference.) Okay, okay, it’s the Mid-American Conference. Don’t go having a cow. But how big and bad are these Cardinals? They’ll be wearing their pasty Mid-American game faces, and if that’s not scary enough, they’ve beaten not just one Michigan but two of them—Western (6-17) and Eastern (10-15). Yeah, those two MAC teams suck, but the Cardinals took four straight from Bowling Green (7-18) and three of four from Toledo (12-15.) Shocker of shockers, all of the Cardinals opponents have sucked. Don’t give us that look. We didn’t make the freaking schedule. The Cardinals are still pretty, pretty, pretty good, though, and we figure if we keep calling them the Cardinals, maybe you’ll get them confused with those other Cardinals who play in St. Louis, and then we could concoct a really scary pre-game story. The Cardinals hail from Muncie, Indiana, which doesn’t sound very scary, unless you grew up there and can't find your way out of there. In that case, it would be very, very terrifying. We checked on line, we really did, and found a website that supposedly lists the 10 most interesting things about Muncie. One of the those interesting things is that they have a hospital, which is truly fascinating we suppose, if your entire reference of the world is Muncie, Indiana. Interesting thing #2 is that John Dillinger used to hide in Muncie when the cops were looking for him in Chicago. Yes, this actually made the list. Interesting thing #3 is that the NFL had a franchise in Muncie—in 1905. Don’t be too impressed. The city fathers in Muncie—a fellowship of halfwits, obviously—let the team go bankrupt in 1925. Interesting thing #4 is that Zhuzi City, China is Muncie’s sister city. This sibling relationship is so close that the populations have shared much together, Covid-19 being the most prominent. We could go on and on with the whole list—no we can’t—we’re scared to, because you might decide to jump out a second-story window if we write even one more word about Muncie, Indiana. So here come those mighty Cardinals from you-know-where. Are we scared? Not a chance! We’re the Fighting Ducks, and we’ll pluck those scabby, crimson worm-eaters, feather by feather. ICamel No. 6 Share Posted April 9, 2022 This game was actually competitive through 6.5 innings with Ball State tying the game at 6-6. Ducks scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to take the lead, and five more in a "walk-a-thon" bottom of the 8th. In the end...the lack of great pitching depth versus these hitters was the difference. They walked HOW many runs in?
