Next batter hit a ball to the corner in right field for a double. The top half of the third ends with a fly ball out to deep center. Have to think Coach Wazikowski will make a pitching change as Gordon has been hit hard.

Josiah Cromwick with a swing strikeout for the Ducks. Gavin Grant hit the ball into center left and with heads up base running stretches it into a double. Tanner Smith strikes out swinging. Gavin Grant throws high to first base following a grounder to the right side of the infield. A flyball out to right field yields a double play out as the runner must have thought there were two outs as he was between second and third when the ball was caught in the outfield, and the throw to first base catches him red faced,

Josiah Cromwick looks at a called third strike for the first out. Gavin Grant reaches first base on a ball into center left. The second out comes on a flyball to center field. Grant is called out at second base attempting to steal.

Josiah Cromwick gets set down on a swinging strikeout. The second swinging strikeout comes by Gavin Grant. Tanner Smith gets on base with a seeing eye single between the third and second basemen. Drew Cowley gets his third hit of the game with an infield single up the middle. Cougars will go to their bullpen with two out and Brennan Milone stepping into the batters box. You have to tip your hat to WSU's starting pitcher Cole McMillan who went 7 2/3 innings while giving up eight hits and only one run. Milone comes through with a line drive single to center field scoring Tanner Smith and putting runners at second and first with Jacob Walsh at bat. Walsh hit a ball to short that the throw to first is mishandled. Drew Cowley tried to score on the play but is thrown out at home.

That was a terrible base-running blunder in the seventh inning by Drew Cowley, down by 5 runs. The Ducks had the tying run in the on-deck circle and Cowley killed the rally.

9th inning;

Tommy Brandenburg will pitch to WSU in the ninth inning. Brandenburg gets a ten pitch strikeout to retire the first batter. A popup out to Jacob Walsh in foul territory accounts for the second out. Tommy walks the third hitter on a full count. The second strike out for Brandenburg retires WSU in the ninth.

0 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 Errors, 1 LOB

Ducks with their rally caps need five runs to tie and six to win. Tyler Ganus pinch hitting for Josiah Cromwick to leadoff the bottom of the ninth. Ganus is hit by the pitcher to put him at first base. Gavin Grant hit a ball to the shortstop that the second baseman can't control the throw, but on review the umpires rule Ganus out at second.

Grant at first with only one out. Tanner Smith pokes a double down the left field line. Oregon with runners at third and second for Drew Cowley. Drew is 3 for 4 in the game. And Cowley draws a walk to load the bases! Brennan Milone up next has hit the ball hard today! And he hits the ball into centerfield and two runs cross home plate. Jacob Walsh brings the tying run to the plate for Oregon.

Walsh takes two strikes and in a bizarre call is called out for not getting back into the batters box soon enough. Josh Kasevich is next up for the Ducks. And Kasevich singles into right field to score another run. Runners at the corners with two out and Anthony Hall batting. Anthony Hall comes through with a single to right field scoring Milone. Colby Shade coming to the plate with the tying run just ninety feet from home plate.

A wild pitch brings Bryce Boettcher home with the tying run. Boettcher was pinch running for Kasevich. Winning run is at second base for Oregon. Shade is punched out on a called third strike, but Our Beloved Ducks have scored five runs to send the game to extra innings.

Unbelievable! Now can the Ducks finish the job after such an incredible ninth inning?

Sam Novitske grounds out to third base for out number one. Gavin Grant pokes a single into right field. At bat is Tanner Smith and Tanner hits a single off the third baseman's glove to put Grant in scoring position at second. Drew Cowley is 3 of 4 at bat today and will face a new pitcher for WSU. A huge, come-from-behind win for the Ducks. An amazing win, after being down 7-0. It's the Ducks' 14th come-from-behind victory and their fourth walk-off win this season.

Drew Cowley redeemed his earlier base-running miscue with an infield single in the 10th inning that loaded the bases, setting up the winning single.

I'm wondering--did the Ducks ever win a game during the George Horton era when they were trailing by seven or more runs?

The Ducks had 18 hits tonight. Their offense is virtually unstoppable and this is one team that is very difficult to put away.

You could say that Washington State "couged it"--a Cougar wild pitch in the ninth tied the game. But give credit to the Ducks for not giving up, down by five runs going into the last of the ninth.

This Ducks baseball team is a special group and congrats to the players and Coach Wasikowski for a truly incredible win tonight.

Down 7-0, and then 7-2 going into the ninth?

What an improbable win for Oregon!

Trailing 7-2 going into the ninth inning they rally with five runs to tie the game.

And scratch out the winning run with four consecutive singles in the tenth inning!

UNBELIEVABLE!

A special tip of the cap to ICamel for faithfully keeping his reporting going all the way through this game--the good, the bad, and the ugly. And there were plenty of bad and ugly moments up until the last of the ninth inning.

Going into the home half of the sixth inning, the Ducks were trailing 7-0 and it looked as if the 5-13 Cougars were going to take the first game of this weekend series.

But Brennan Milone and his Oregon Ducks teammates said, "No!"
