What does all this tell us in the big picture? Oregon’s offense on paper looks good, but does have some troubling signs that make it somewhat sub-elite. For example, the Ducks had 57 more hits than the elite average, but the elite teams are scoring the same number of runs on fewer hits.

If you love stats, this article has them.

An examination of Oregon’s team statistics against "elite" teams

Let’s face it, baseball is all about pitching and we were a little shy on that one to compete with the big boys. Improve that aspect of our roster and winning will become much easier.

I would contend that Coach Waz's team needs to get down close to a 2.50 pitching Earned Run Average(ERA).

Unrealistic? Oregon State had a team 2.46 ERA for this past season.
