Pennsylvania Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted October 6, 2022 As Oregon prepares to take on Arizona, James has maintained his edge at punter and the competition hasn’t ceased. The Ducks are 110th in average punt distance (39.13 yards) so far but would move up significantly if James is able to maintain his average over the rest of the season. Ross James takes over as Oregon Ducks punter, aiming for more consistency WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM James had five punts averaging 43.4 yards in last week’s game against the Cardinal, with two inside the 20 and one for 52 yards.
Mic No. 2 Share Posted October 6, 2022 Oregon has got to do better than 110th in the FBS (out of 132 teams). Good for James getting his shot at it. The competition for the role is always a good thing. Imagine how tough the Ducks would be to beat if they had a consistently good punter who could maintain a 44 yard average? I wonder: do good HS punters turn their back on teams like Oregon because our team disdain's many 4th downs and opts to go for it instead?
