Pennsylvania Duck Moderator No. 1 Share Posted October 26, 2022 The NCAA Division I Board of Directors released updated guidance today related to what role member institutions are allowed to play in NIL activities. - A member school is not able to provide financial support to a NIL collective – groups of boosters and businesses – have an athletic department staff member employed by the booster-run organization or provide an incentive to drive funds to a collective. - Athletic departments are able to help fundraise for collectives, including, for example, an administrator appearing at events. They can also provide donor information and facilitate meetings between the collective and booster. - Schools also can request donors provide funds to collectives and other NIL entities, provided the schools do not request that those funds be directed to a specific sport or student-athlete. Plus "Schools cannot provide free contract review services to athletes, unless it is open to the general student body." Well, that's an easy end-run, offer it to all students.
