Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 2 Share Posted January 7, 2023 Ducks aiming for first desert road sweep since 2019 in ranked meeting with UA on Sunday Earning wins in the desert is rarely easy. Flying north back to Eugene with two has been a real rarity for the Ducks even during the highs of head coach Kelly Graves' coaching tenure. This year's 18th-ranked Oregon team will aim to become the third under Graves to sweep the Zona schools on the road when it squares off with the 15th-ranked Wildcats on Sunday evening. A victory would move the Ducks into sole possession of second place in the conference assuming No. 2 Stanford takes care of Cal on Sunday too. The Ducks beat the Wildcats 68-66 in overtime in Eugene last season in a matchup that provided drama during and after the game, as the animus between the teams was aired publicly, with Arizona coach Adia Barnes and guard Shaina Pellington accusing Oregon’s Kelly Graves of cursing at Barnes during the game. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 7 Share Posted January 8, 2023 No. 18 Ducks seeking desert road sweep against No. 15 Arizona Oregon (12-3, 3-1) has won its last two games over USC and Arizona State to move to 3-1 in conference play. Their most recent victory came two days ago when they flew past the Sun Devils in the second half to an 82-62 win. That acted as just their second road game and win of the season. Oregon has not swept the Arizona schools since 2019. The Wildcats (13-2, 3-1) have given the Ducks fits on their last few trips to Tucson, beating them by an average of 15.5 points per contest. Arizona has lost twice this season including a stunning 27-point loss to Kansas in early December. The team's other loss came earlier this week in Palo Alto when Stanford bested them by 16. It's the same thing all the time for Arizona, they foul every possession so that refs are forced to not call anything since they would foul out of the game, helps as well that Barnes whines the entire game and post game if they lose. Simple fact though is win the game if Arizona doesn't shoot out of their minds from 3 or if we don't make about 10 boneheaded weak passes.
