February 27, 20214 yr Moderator In the last 30 years or so, shortstop has emerged as the premier position, in baseball and softball. The New York Yankees felt this way, to their detriment, when they kept an aging and reduced skilled Derek Jeter at shortstop and put A-Rod at third base. Baltimore and Cal Ripken weren't locked in to this, and Ripken ended his career at third base, It would be great if Brito could come even close to being the shortstop, Nikki Udria was for the Ducks.
