Ducks down ASU on Senior Day behind Te-Hina Paopao's shooting

Junior guard Te-Hina Paopao stole the show on Senior Day.

While the school spent the moments after Saturday's 77-48 win over Arizona State remembering the four-player senior class, Paopao was busy setting a new career-high in made three-pointers with seven. Six of those triples came before intermission and helped the Ducks to pull away early.

Paopao, who'd averaged fewer than five points per game during six straight defeats, has now scored at least 20 points over the past three games, including a season-high 23 on Saturday on 8-of-12 shooting. She also made 7-of-10 from distance.

The win ends the regular season on a high note. The win also keeps the Ducks, who were the first team out of ESPN's latest bracket projections, in contention to reach the Big Dance.

Senior Day A Celebration For Ducks

Oregon completed a weekend sweep by beating Arizona State on Saturday, and postgame the Ducks recognized their four seniors.

Te-Hina Paopao kept up her hot shooting and Oregon capped its regular season in emphatic fashion Saturday, a 77-48 victory over Arizona State before 6,757 fans on Senior Day at Matthew Knight Arena.

The Ducks (16-13, 7-11 Pac-12) put a seven-game losing streak behind them with a weekend sweep of No. 14 Arizona and then the Sun Devils, giving them positive momentum entering the Pac-12 Tournament. They open play as the No. 9 seed against Washington on Wednesday (2:30 p.m., Pac-12 Network), looking to make a run to the title or burnish their credentials for an NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

"That game Thursday night is one of the best games we've ever had here in the arena, got the fans I think re-juiced about us, and I think that carried over to today," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "To go in on a two-game winning streak., it doesn't sound like much, but for us it is."

The Huskies own the tie-breaker thanks to a win over Stanford and will carry the No. 8 designation into the conference tournament, while Oregon will be the No. 9 seed.

The opening round game is set for 2:30 PM on Wednesday at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. The winner would face top-seeded Stanford at the same time a day later.

Ducks operating as if they will not have Grace VanSlooten available in Las Vegas

The Oregon women's basketball team enters next week's Pac-12 Tournament expecting to again be without second-leading scorer Grace VanSlooten, head coach Kelly Graves said on Saturday.

"Right now, we're without Grace. I have not been told 'Hey, she's coming back in a day or two'," Graves said after the team's 77-48 win over Arizona State. "We're just going in figuring we'll be playing with the group we had this weekend, and then just hope for the best."

VanSlooten suffered a left ankle injury in the closing minute's of the team's Feb. 17 loss to Washington State in Pullman. VanSlooten has missed the three games since, including both victories this weekend over the Arizona schools to close regular season play.
