I know they are going to be in anlysis roles but it is interesting that they are being called "assistants".

I wouldn't be surprised to see a rule change to the number of assistant coaches at some time.

Oregon Football Announces Two New Additions to Coaching Staff

Dan Lanning has moved quickly this offseason to fill holes on his coaching staff.

Mike Cavanaugh will be the assistant offensive line coach for the Ducks in 2023, while Brian Michalowski will coach the inside linebackers.

Cavanaugh is an important addition to the coaching staff because he can help guide new offensive line coach A'lique Terry as he takes over a group that was previously coached by Adrian Klemm. He not only brings knowledge of the position but also of the conference with him to Eugene.

Michalowski comes over from Oregon State, where he served as a defensive quality control analyst. Oregon's new inside linebackers coach hails from Morristown, New Jersey and his coaching resume includes coaching the outside linebackers at Colorado (2019-2021) and being a defensive analyst at Georgia in 2018, among other jobs.
