Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 3 Share Posted March 30, 2023 Ducks begin challenging three-week stretch of conference play starting Friday against Arizona Over the next three weeks of Pac-12 baseball, each team will have a much better idea of where their team stands amongst the rest. As of Thursday, Oregon sits in sixth place in the Pac-12, playing in only six conference games, tied for the fewest with Arizona State. The Sun Devils, surprisingly, leads the Pac-12 with a 5-1 record, but Stanford and USC sport a 7-2 record. Oregon will go through arguably their toughest stretch of conference play starting on Friday, as they travel to Tucson and take on the Arizona Wildcats before hosting rival Oregon State and Pac-12 preseason favorite Stanford. Ducks begin challenging three-week stretch of conference play starting Friday against Arizona 247SPORTS.COM Starting Friday, Oregon enters a challenging three-week stretch against Arizona. Oregon pitching coach Jake Angier discusses starters’ success and challenges of handling a young staff Underneath all the offensive flare, one area quietly slipped under the radar for Oregon last weekend: starting pitching. Oregon’s starters struggled badly against Washington State two weekends ago, despite the team’s overall series victory. However, in a young season that has already seen so many ups and downs, there was another “up,” as the pitchers thrived en route to a four-game sweep of the Northwestern State Demons. “It’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows all the time,” pitching coach Jake Angier said. “But that’s why I’m doing it. I’m having fun with it. These guys are young, and they’re growing and they’re getting better, and you can see it with their confidence in what they’re doing.” Click here to read more about the Duck pitchers in this article from the Daily Emerald. ------------------------------- Oregon finds a lineup that works during six-game winning streak If this Oregon baseball season has proven anything, it’s that so much can change from week to week, and even game to game. The Ducks have now continued a rather odd pattern in their rollercoaster season. They started with a four-game sweep; they followed by getting swept in three games. Then they won five in a row, and then they lost four in a row. Now, they’re on a commanding six-game winning streak. For those keeping score at home, that’s 4-3, 5-4, 6 — a trend which would require them to lose five in a row to keep the pattern going. But if they play anywhere as well as they did last weekend against Northwestern State, it’s hard to envision that happening — particularly if they keep swinging the bats the way they are, with an absurd 73 runs in that six-game span. Charles Fischer Administrator No. 28 Share Posted April 2, 2023 Ranks right up there as one of the most incredible come-backs I've seen! Oregon put up huge numbers last weekend, and Waz was telling us that the Northwestern State pitchers were actually quite good. Not many of us believed him, as we discounted the opponent. Well, the Ducks just put 15 and 13 on ARIZONA, thus this group of Oregon hitters is a sight to see. The Ducks pounded seven runs last night on a projected Top-100 MLB Draft prospect, so Oregon is for real! Mr. FishDuck

Closer Josh Mollerus recorded the final three outs in the bottom half of the inning for his third save. Oregon entered the ninth trailing 11-10 after whittling what appeared to be an Arizona commanding 10-run lead after two innings to a single run after the eighth. Like he had done throughout the game, Rikuu Nishida sparked the Ducks (17-7, 5-3 Pac-12) rally with a one-out double to set the table for Oregon's 2-3-4 hitters who combined for six hits and seven RBI during the game. Shade followed Nishida's two-bagger with his own double, a line-shot into the left-center field gap to score Nishida and tie the game. Cowley followed with a chopper through the six-hole moving Shade to third with one out. Ceballos responded lining a 2-ball, 1-strike pitch into left field to score both runners.
