Ducks Homer Twice in Sixth to Win Game One

Allee Bunker and Alyssa Daniell each hit two-run home runs in the top of the sixth inning as No. 19 Oregon defeated Arizona State, 5-2, Friday night in front of 1,816 at Farrington Stadium.

Morgan Scott allowed one earned run and struck out nine in improving to 8-4 on the season as the Ducks (26-11, 6-7) snapped the Sun Devils' six-game winning streak in the series.

"We needed our pitching, we needed our defense early in the game," said Lombardi. "Morgan gave up a bomb and after that I thought she did a good job adjusting her pitches."

PFPs Play Role in Fifth Win in a Row

Of the multitudinous elements discussed and dissected into minutia by fans of the diamond sports, PFPs may very well be at the bottom of the list.

Yet those fundamentals came into play in Saturday night's 5-2 win against Arizona State in front of 1,785 at Farrington Stadium.

Starting pitcher Raegan Breedlove and No. 19 Oregon were staring down a bases-loaded, no outs dilemma in the bottom of the first.

That's when Breedlove buckled down and let her defense go to work. On the next batter, the first ball in play was a grounder to Allee Bunker at second who threw to catcher Terra McGowan for the force at home. The following batter hit a ground ball to Tehya Bird at third. A run scored on the play, but the Ducks recorded the second out at first.

Then it was time for PFPs. Breedlove snared a two-hop comebacker and threw to first to end the inning with no further damage.

Raegan Breedlove, No. 18 Oregon softball clinch series win at Arizona State

Oregon hit three RBI doubles and got a career-long pitching performance from Raegan Breedlove to clinch a series win over Arizona State.

Five of eight hits by the No. 18 Ducks were doubles, including three with two outs, in a 5-2 win over the Sun Devils Saturday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

Breedlove (3-3, 3.00 ERA) allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits, two walks and a hit batter over 6.0 innings. It was one of the best career starts for the junior right-hander, who overcame a tough opening inning and settled in for Oregon (27-11, 7-7 Pac-12).
