Morgan Scott threw a six-inning shutout, Terra McGowan hit her team-high 11th homer and KK Humphreys ended the game with a bases-loaded single in the sixth for the walk-off win. Hanna Delgado and Kai Luschar combined for five hits and five runs at the top of the UO order, and Karissa Ornelas added a two-run, pinch-hit single with two outs in the fourth inning.

"I think we're playing really well," McGowan said. "I think you're seeing a lot of clutch moments from a lot of different people, and that's a sign of a good team."

“I feel like tonight in my favor, everything was working pretty well,” Scott said. “It took me a little bit that first inning, but as the game went along I felt like my command got stronger.”

WIN STREAK NOW EIGHT FOR SOFTBALL

OREGON STAYED HOT SATURDAY AND WILL LOOK TO COMPLETE A SERIES SWEEP OF ARIZONA AT HOME SUNDAY.

There were blue skies for Oregon softball on Saturday afternoon, literally and figuratively.

On the field, the No. 17 Ducks kept the good times rolling with their season-high eighth straight win, an 8-3 victory over Arizona. And a beautiful spring day in Eugene brought a season-high crowd of 2,163 to Jane Sanders Stadium. With eight games left in the regular season including four at home, the Ducks hope to see both trends — strong play and great crowds — continue.

"Today we got to get a feel of what postseason would feel like here, and that's what these guys have been working hard for all year — the opportunity to host," UO coach Melyssa Lombardi said. "So we hope our fans are loving what we're doing and that they want to keep coming out, because homefield advantage is a big thing. Especially in the Pac it's a really, really big thing, and obviously in postseason."

Ariel Carlson leads Oregon to 8-3 win against Arizona

Ariel Carlson led the Ducks with three runs batted in and went 2-for-4 at the plate. Terra McGowan also contributed two RBIs.

“Over the last three weeks I’ve been working through a lot of mechanical stuff,” Carlson said. “Right now, I’m really just enjoying being in the moment and being present and taking it one pitch at a time.”

Lombardi credited the crowd for its role in the win and reiterated the team's goal of being able to host in the postseason.

“We love to play in front of our fans. We love to hear when they rumble the stadium. There’s nothing better,” Lombard said. “Today we got a feel of what postseason would feel like here, and that’s what these guys have been working hard for all year is the opportunity to host.”

Oregon (30-11, 10-7) will return to Jane Sanders Stadium with an opportunity to sweep the series against Arizona (25-20, 3-14) on Sunday at noon.

Sweep Complete, For Second Straight Week

Oregon softball has swept back-to-back Pac-12 series and won nine games in a row overall after Sunday's 7-4 win over Arizona.

Oregon has a nine-game winning streak and has swept consecutive Pac-12 series for the first time under head coach Melyssa Lombardi after a 7-4 victory Sunday over Arizona before 1,803 fans at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The No. 17 Ducks (31-11, 11-7 Pac-12) trailed for the first time in the series, falling behind 4-0 through three innings Sunday. But they rallied to win, taking the lead with a four-run sixth to enter the final two weeks of conference play in fourth place.

"That was big for us," Lombardi said. "It's hard to get wins in the Pac. It's hard to get sweeps in the Pac. Nothing comes easy."

Karissa Ornelas’ bases-clearing double sends No. 16 Oregon softball past Arizona to complete sweep

For the second time this weekend Karissa Ornelas came in to pinch hit with the bases loaded and Oregon’s backup catcher, who entered the weekend hitting .226 — including just 1 for 7 in Pac-12 play, delivered yet again.

After Arizona intentionally walked Ariel Carlson to load the bases and plunked Kedre Luschar to force in the tying run, Ornelas belted a 1-0 pitch down the line in right for a bases-clearing double to put the No. 16 Ducks ahead for good in a 7-4 win over the Wildcats Sunday afternoon at Jane Sanders Stadium.

“I think (Ornelas is) an experienced athlete,” Lombardi said. “She’s at the end of her career. She never gets too high or too low. I think she’s made for the those moments and continues to clutch up for us.”

The fifth-year senior turned on an inside pitch and drove it down the line to the corner in right, scoring all three runners and had the 1,803 in attendance out of their seats. Ornelas improved to 5 of 16 as a pinch hitter and is now 4 for 5 with seven RBIs with the bases loaded this season.
