Cowley, Stoffal sweep Pac-12 honors

Coming off a 4-1 week where Oregon won series over Gonzaga and No. 12 Arizona State, the Ducks swept the Pac-12 Conference weekly awards with Drew Cowley being named the player of the week and Jace Stoffal claiming pitcher of the week honors.

Stoffal (Roseburg, Ore. / Roseburg HS) became just the third Duck to claim the honor three times in a season, joining Robert Ahlstrom (2021) and David Peterson (2017). The Ducks' right-hander turned in another dominant effort against ASU, one of the top-hitting teams in the Pac-12 Conference, on Friday. Stoffal held the Sun Devils, who entered the weekend second in the Pac-12 in batting average (.314) and runs scored (304), to just one earned run on four hits in 6.2 innings pitched.

He held ASU scoreless through the first five innings allowing Oregon to build a 9-0 lead before Arizona State finally got on the board. Stoffal picked up his sixth quality start with three coming against the top three hitting teams in the Pac-12 entering last weekend (Arizona, Arizona State, Stanford). Stoffal's previous two pitcher of the week honors came after wins over Oregon State and Stanford.

Cowley (Upland, Calif. / Upland HS) batted .421 with four home runs and 10 RBI in the five games against Gonzaga and Arizona State. He finished the week with three multiple-hit games while reaching base multiple times in all five contests, finishing with a .542 on-base percentage and a 1.053 slugging percentage.
