The Chargers racked up over 108 yards in penalties, pretty hard to win when you do that.
They were 8 of 10 going for it on 4th down, but going for it and not getting it on their own 18 was the 3 points that cost them the game.
Herbie did better than he did last year and looks to do even better next year.

Reminded me of Colt Lyerla for some reason. Couldn’t stay out of trouble.
I thought he was going to be a hall of fame tight end in the NFL. Had all kinds of talent when he was at Oregon. So sad.
I did too JT, his first couple of years, he was tearing it up. I was hoping he could come out of it as a Packer, but he just couldn’t seem to make the right choices.
Another one I thought would go places was Thomas Tyner. I loved seeing the post of his epic cut the other day!

No need to apologize Charles, over-all, it was a great article for generating comments! It generated some great posts reminding us of some great Ducks who did well in the NFL. Thanks for posting it.
I’ve had my coffee and feel much less grouchy! Can ya tell?

As McDuck mentioned, Dan Fouts and Gary Zimmerman didn’t do to bad in the league either. I seem to remember Bobby Moore doing pretty well too.
Maybe the title should have been “A Few of Oregon’s Most Successful NFL Draft Pick Players.”
I need my coffee, I woke up grouchy. Apologies to all…

From my perspective, when Duck fans continually focus on the Fuskies with their hatred, it only reinforces the notion that Duck fans view themselves as the "little brothers." To me, it's much like the seething hatred I get from so many Beaver fans. I prefer to take the tack of, "Huskies? Which ones?"
WK, that’s the beauty of perspective, everybody’s got one. From my perspective, those who wear hooker gold and prostitute purple tend to be the most arrogant and clueless fans to ever enter a stadium! Even my UW alum co-workers agree that Husky fans are an entitled bunch of arrogant @$$#*\€$.
I think there is way more hatred oozing south than north. As far as little brother, no. I think of them more as dastardly dawgs. Dawgs that should be kept out of the house.

Thanks Charles, for saying what so many of us would like to tell Coach Dan! We love our Ducks and want to see a prolific offense that mixes runs and passes to the extent the defense is on their heels, and gives up EXPLOSION PLAYS!
Football coaches should be using the facilities at Hayward (and all the student athlete support available) to entice the really fast players to come to Oregon.

I turned to the Cooking channel and watched stuff I don't even like when AB started the 3rd qt.
Too bad! Oregon played its best quarter of the game in Q3! If it wasn’t for the disaster of Q2, we may have come away with a W!
Overall, I was impressed with our YOUNG DUCKS. They showed heart, and did not quit. I think Lanning will have a pretty good team next year. Let us see if he can coach them up to reach their potential…
I must say that I don’t think I will miss MC’s staff very much.

As another long time FishDuck fan who had to be reminded not to throw shade, I have come to think of OBDF as a virtual ‘dinner table’ where we can share our Duck thoughts, hopes, dreams, and even nightmares!
My Dad’s firm rule was that you do not discuss religion or politics at the dinner table. It always leads to a fight because people tend to think their way is THE ONLY WAY! I too read my posts before posting, and have simply deleted several posts because they could be interpreted differently than intended.
My hat is off to you, Mr. FishDuck, for creating this safe haven for THE MOST KNOWLEDGABLE DUCK FANS on the planet to congregate with friends.
It is my wish that each of you and yours, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Go Ducks!

I believe in second chances in most instances. I also think that lanning is going to make mistakes along the way. Short leash for Klemm, long leash for lanning kind of thing. With Lanning juggling so much with two programs, I expect some missteps. Another couple weeks and Oregon will have lanning full attention. Don't think I can expect him to fill his staff quickly to try and salvage recruiting and do it flawlessly.
Agreed LH, let’s give DL a chance to coach. I like your leash comments. Let him make mistakes and learn from them. When he repeats them, it becomes a different story!

Unfortunately, it has become “part of the game” for those schools interested in the super league JJ (rightly) predicts here on OBDF.
It almost killed me when so many years of OBD coaching experience was (were?) shown the door along with Helfrich.
The game, unfortunately, is no longer a game, and as such, is no longer quite as much fun.

And I believe it's the same type we talk about in games. Are you also describing the stress of fear or confidence. That's as real as it gets.
I was thinking about the swings where it seems you can’t do anything wrong for a spurt. Where runs break free, catches are made and points stack up.
Like when we were looking down the barrel of a 14-0 score from the Utes, and he dropped the ball on the one. Up to that point, the Utes had momentum. Everything they tried worked. That play shifted the momentum and thus the outcome.
While it is as real as momentum, abject fear tends to affect me differently.

Nothing gets the blood pumping like coming down a logging road sitting on 102k lbs of iron and wood in 2 ft of snow and ice with a 500 ft drop on your left. One slip and momentum builds from there. Wait... wrong kind of momentum. Nevermind.
I know THAT Momentum too! Got to bring a half loaded rigging truck off Bald Mt. w/no brakes back in 76! Thats a whole bunch of momentum I wasn’t even think about! Thanks for the flashback!

National Championship GameDay Thread: Watch for Georgia Blitzes!
in Our Beloved Ducks
Charles, your article is getting me all fired up, not as much for tonight’s game, but for next year! Thank you for the research into wha Lanning could bring,
Next year is gonna be both exciting and fun!
If JF can put together an injury free season alongside NS, they will be a force to be reckoned with! Either on or both blitzing in the Rain-Blitz is going to rain havoc on opposing QBs!
