Lincoln Riley to USC ??!!
Also, I’m sure some Ducks fans are going to say this makes it tougher to get into the playoff now, but I actually think it helps. I don’t fear Lincoln Riley going to USC, I embrace it.

Well he didn’t lie anyway lol

Lincoln Riley to USC ??!!
I think it’s great news! And it’s being reported as a done deal by the folks over at FootballScoop, who are very reliable. I think it’s awesome for the conference as a whole.

See You at the Game!
From Coach Cristobal’s presser, nobody came away with anything serious.

See You at the Game!
I’ll be at the game on Friday! In fact, I scheduled my trip before conference play even started. Anybody else going?

Nick Saban Hits the Nail on the Head
I made it more about the coaches, but I think Coach Saban just had his players in mind. For him, they’re kinda like his kids. Parents yell at their kids for doing things incorrectly, but at the same time they don’t want a stranger calling them a dumb piece of crap for it. That’s where I think he’s coming from.

Nick Saban Hits the Nail on the Head
Right, it’s not about being disappointed. Of course you can be disappointed in a loss. But some take that to an extreme. They want a coach gone who will possibly have won the conference title in three times in four years. They want the QB benched as soon as there’s one bad throw, even if it was a breakdown by the OL. I would say that’s a small portion of fans though.

Wow! That Would be Bad
I think that winning your conference should be the first step of a playoff. It works in the NFL. But I also think for that you need an expanded playoff. Then again, I don’t think that the playoff should be more than 8 teams without reducing the regular season game total.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to the FishDuck and Oregon Ducks community. As a fan, I am thankful for all of the hard work that the players and coaching staff put in everyday to field the awesome team that we get to watch each weekend! Go Ducks!!!

Nick Saban Hits the Nail on the Head
I was going to post a thread with the video, but I’ll just put it here! I completely agree.

Oregon’s Offense is Becoming Watchable
It’s been pretty much all year. And would have been last season too had the staff been afforded and off-season. That’s because the Shotgun is what Coach Moorhead has designed his offense around.

The Oregon Offense: Tight Bunch Triple Option
I believe that all of the QBs that we have on the roster have a good skill set for the offense we’re seeing. Each have varying attributes though, but the offense could be successful with any of them.

The Oregon Offense: Tight Bunch Triple Option
It’s really just about the structure of the play. First level defender is the first read. If he makes a specific choice, you never get to your second level read. It’s designed to create a numbers advantage.
-
The Oregon Offense: Double Pull Power RPO
To be fair, that play is inside zone though. Cardwell did a really good job of taking a backside gap which allowed the OL to have the angle advantage while still trying to blast a hole through them.

The Oregon Offense: Double Pull Power RPO
I’d really like to see Coach Moorhead pull out the counter too!

MARCUS ARROYO
For me, no. And that’s no disrespect to Coach Kelly. Just doesn’t feel like it’d work right. Of course, I do have a little list of OC candidates should that become an issue, but my list of guys that I want to be the OC only consists of Coach Moorhead!

52-29? Just Like the “Good Ol’ Days!” And Time to Give Credit…
I completely agree with the sentiment that the uptick in the use of the shotgun is because it’s how Coach Moorhead’s offense is designed. He still uses the pistol and has neat wrinkles, but his offense was built around shotgun. I honestly believe you would have seen more of this shift in 2020 if not for covid taking away the off season.

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
I know some folks believe that Coach Cristobal tells his OCs what to run. I don’t believe that. The style difference between Coach Moorhead’s and Coach Arroyo’s offenses is great enough that I don’t buy that. Something that strikes me, and I’m not saying this is you, is that I’ve heard people talk about Coach Kelly’s Bruins offense in a good light, and deservedly so, but the Oregon one poorly. The two offenses are identical statistically. I think the irritating thing is inconsistency. If we were just more consistent in our execution, I think we’d be the top offense in the league. Also, I would argue that Justin Herbert looked best in Coach Taggart’s offense.

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
I agree that he has needed to make some better decisions on these speed options. And I think we’re seeing progress there. The two places you usually see struggles in the option game from QBs are when a QB leans too much on his own athleticism, and then QBs that always seem to hand off when he should be using his feet more.

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
Haha I’m not that qualified.

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
When he was announced as Oregon’s OC I did a lot of studying of his offense, and he’s actually doing a lot more now than he was then.

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
I’m really hoping to see a triple option off of this look!

Moorhead Offense: Fly Sweep Threat Enhances Oregon’s Speed Option
I really like the design of the play, and I wonder if a triple option is in the works from this same look. I thought that’s what it was at first glance.

Moorhead Offense: Oregon’s Split Zone RPO
Absolutely no fun at all if you’re a DC! Lol He's crazy good. Wish he could shake the injury bug he’s dealt with in the NFL. Though as an Eagles fan, I wish for it to be outside of the NFC East!

Moorhead Offense: Oregon’s Split Zone RPO
Thanks for reading! And honestly, I think most offense work well with generational talent like Barkley lol. Our back are a pretty good duo though, and I’ll be interested to see how the younger backs fill in with Verdell out. I also believe that the whole Coach Cristobal tells his coordinators what to run is a myth, so I don’t think it’s hard for Coach Moorhead to work for him. But I think my opinion on that is fairly understood around here. When someone asks that, and we really think about it, the Oregon offense went to much more Shotgun under Coach Moorhead. It would have happened last year, but with no off-season, Moorhead kept the running game from the last scheme intact. If last year had an off-season, you would have seen the offense of now sprinkled with pistol. That doesn’t seem like a HC telling a coordinator what to call. It seems more like one telling an OC that if more of your plays are designed for another alignment, use it. I also don’t think Coach Cristobal would have called a pass on second down at the end of the last game. As far as AB, I think his RPO stuff is pretty accurate. It’s his downfield stuff that needs the most improvement. And his decisions on the speed option. Which is not an RPO, despite what announcers say lol.
