Pete's Achievements

  1. The "Waterboy" onside kick against Ohio State
  2. Whatever the official line is, it will always be "Puddles" and the "Civil War" to me.
  3. I think stadium design helps (we have roofs! an accident of climatology). But with some big OOC wins in the 2000s, the narrative was picked up by the national media and since then it has really has become a point of pride and ingrained in the fanbase culture. My 2 cents.
  4. In addition to the unusually high volume-per-fan ratio in Autzen, the roof above the visitor sideline makes a big difference. However, there will be a lot of Ohio State fans...
  5. MWC media rights deal is up in '26
  6. More TV money per school for these four institutions if they to ditch the bottom tier MWC schools. Pete, I think you are being optimistic. CW, FOX, and ESPN already own this game inventory. Pay more because these 4 join up with the Pac-2?
  7. I'm just one guy, but absolutely UO should play OSU every year in all sports. It's the right thing to do and it exemplifies what makes college sports great. Not everything needs to be transactional.
  8. It is marketing malpractice to not create unique codes for each recipient if the intent was to limit the promotion to a select audience. Some poor intern probably just got fired!
  9. Code did not work for me. I messaged BT+ in their chat window and they said the code was only intended for people who received an email, but that they would extend the free year to me as a courtesy. So we are in business! Perhaps others will have luck as well...
  10. He'd be crazy to say 'no'. But I do think he's a little crazy (in a good way).
  11. I hate it. I know I'm not the only one here who thought the Ducks were gonna run away with it at after we took that lead 24-21, but alas fate had other plans. As a lifelong Virginia fan (turned Oregon fan later in life when I attended UO for grad school and married a Duck), I am reminded of what Virginia basketball coach Tony Bennett's said after becoming the first 1 seed ever to lose to a 16 seed in 2018. He told the team, "Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning." (A biblical quote -- I am not a religious person, but it rings true for me.) Bennett said, "We will have some tough nights, because you're so close you could taste it, but absolutely joy will come in the morning for what these guys have established... This is life – it can't define you. You enjoy the good times, and you gotta be able to take the bad times. That can't, in the end, define these guys and our team." The next year Virginia got redemption by winning the school's first natty. So hang in the there Duck superfans. We've had some tough nights this week because we were so close. But Lanning will channel the pain and make this team better... and joy will come in the morning.
