You, Me, and Irene Are a MIRACLE...
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Spare the rod, spoil the child? Part of the reason some peeps complain is because in today's permissive, er, inclusive, world, it's considered rude to expect somebody to follow the rules, or enforce them. Odd, but it works, doesn't it? Good work, people! -
I see what you did there, Jon. Remember, Fortuna was a deadly combination, a woman and a goddess, subject to an unknowable (nee, capricious) turn of a whim. Much like the turn of a knife, luck cuts both ways, hence, Orebon's two humiliating, indeed, frustrating. Losses to the fuzzkies, followed by U Duh's I'll fated meeting with MeatChicken...

Oregon Ducks Football: Undefeated Season Incoming?
woundedknees replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The one time I was semi confident the Ducks would go undefeated in the regular season, my son lived in Las Vegas... I dropped $20 on it at the new sports book near his home, and left the ticket with him. Ducks came through, and he got a month worth of rent money out of it. -
Pitching Disaster: Oregon Loses to Texas A&M 16-9

Disappointing end to a GREAT season. At least the Ducks were the last PAC12 team remaining... Bodes well for the B1G, as far as I'm concerned. Good job boys. Shore up the pitching (and even that had flashes of brilliance. Need more consistency annd experience.), and things can get much better. -
Pitching Disaster: Oregon Loses to Texas A&M 16-9

Waz has got to make a change! Tie game after multiple walks in the 7th inning! Unbelievable! Jaxson Jordan in at pitcher for Oregon, now. -
I remember feeling, off and on, that entire season, that there was a different chemistry to that team. I think the unexpected victory at USC, when Oregon had to use a then un-heralded quarterback named Tony Graziani, while Danny Oneil recovered from his hand infection, got my blood starting to simmer. The pick pretty much brought things to a boil.

Recruiting: Are You Less "Into It" Than Before?
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I check in as much as ever, however... I have gotten more likely to select a couple sites to monitor (OBD being my primary place of residence), and tend to do less active posting than in my youthful exuberance. -

My Grandson was hanging out the window, screaming in joy when BB hit that Homer. I think he might be a Duck fan... -

Dang... 1 year older than me. RIP, big fella. You may not have been a Duck, but you were true to yourself. -
For Memorial Day: The Newest USS Enterprise!
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My father-in-law was a seaman on the maiden voyage of the USS Hancock (CV-19), near the end of WW2... The flattops, even then, were large enough to allow the men to play softball on the deck. The Enterprise 2 (CVN-65) and Eisenhower (CVN-69) were considerably larger. My FIL was one of the strongest men many of the crew had seen, and found himself barred from playing after he lost more than one ball overboard when he batted. Part of the onboard training regimen involved jumping from the flight deck, into the waters below, to prepare the crew for emergencies. https://www.navsource.org/archives/02/021988.jpg -
The famous, "I didn't know" defense... “Shilo is the honest but unfortunate debtor looking to get his fresh start in life, free from the oppressive burden of his debts, including the default judgement to the Plaintiff,” Shilo Sanders’ attorney wrote in a court filing in February. SHEESH1
