  1. Hi Charles I think there was a misunderstanding when I listed the arena capacities. Ohio State did not average 18,000 fans, same thing with Penn St, they didn't average 15,000 fans either. I should have also listed the average attendance in the previous post. I have added that here, the school and the AVERAGE attendance for each game. 1. Indiana 16,464 2. Wisconsin 15,512 3. Illinois 15,378 4. Maryland 15,157 5. Nebraska 15,012 6. Purdue 14,876 7. Michigan St. 14,797 8. Michigan 12,388 9. Ohio St. 12,000 10. Minnesota 9,983 11. Iowa 9.369 12. UCLA 8,628 13. Oregon 8,438 14. Rutgers 8,000 15. Washington 7,746 16. Penn St. 7,713 17. Northwestern 6,474 18. USC 6,214
  2. This is a list of the final attendance percentages for B1G TEN basketball. Listed is the school, arena capacity and the percentage of actual attendance. This is based on ten home games against big ten opponents. I did not list non-conference games. School Arena Capacity % Purdue 14,876 100 Michigan State 14,797 100 Rutgers 8,000 100 Illinois 15,544 99 Nebraska 15,500 97 Michigan 12,707 97 Indiana 17,222 96 Wisconsin 16,838 92 Northwestern 7,039 92 Maryland 17,950 84 Washington 10,000 77 Minnesota 14,625 68 Oregon 12,364 68 Ohio State 18,809 64 UCLA 13,800 63 USC 10,258 61 Iowa 15,500 60 Penn State 15,261 51
  3. On October 2nd, 2024 the fine folks at the Columbus Dispatch and Indianapolis Star released a pre-season media poll on the B1G Ten standings. Listed below is their list and the final standings. They actually got two of them correct, USC and Penn St. pre-season predictions final standings 1. Purdue 1. Michigan State 2. Indiana 2. Maryland 3. UCLA 3. Michigan 4. Illinois 4. UCLA 5. Michigan State 5. Wisconsin 6. Oregon 6. Purdue 7. Rutgers 7. Illinois 8. Ohio State 8. Oregon 9. Michigan 9. Indiana 10. Maryland 10. Ohio State 11. Iowa 11. Rutgers 12. Wisconsin 12. Minnesota 13. Nebraska 13. Northwestern 14. USC 14. USC 15. Washington 15. Iowa 16. Northwestern 16. Nebraska 17. Penn State 17. Penn State 18. Minnesota 18. Washington
  4. There is a very important game tonight with Illinois vs. Purdue. The game is at 5 pm on the FOX network. If Purdue wins and the Ducks beat the Huskies, Oregon would have the 7th seed and would play the #10 vs. #15 winner in the Big Ten tournament. If Illinois wins, Oregon ends up with the #8 seed and would play the winner of the Indiana/Ohio State game. Earlier this year, Indiana won at Ohio State 77-76 in overtime. Oregon beat Indiana 73-64 in Eugene and the Ducks beat Ohio State in Columbus 73-71. If Oregon faces Indiana, it will be like a home game for the Hoosiers. Bloomington is only 56 miles away from Indianapolis. If the Ducks don't get that 7th seed, I'd rather see us play Ohio State again.
  5. The latest college baseball rankings (D 1) are out. The Ducks are # 10 this week and they are the only B1G Ten team in the top 25. Playing USC this week-end, they will have a target on their backs. Hope the guys are prepared for their first away series this season. As noted above, USC'S home field, Dedeaux Field, is still under renovation. The ballpark seats 2,500 fans. Playing at Great Park Stadium, the seating capacity is 1,200. All USC home games are free of charge this season.
  6. This is not going to be an easy game to win. Ducks home losses were to UCLA 73-71, Illinois 109-77 (inexcusable), Purdue 65-58 and Nebraska 77-71. The Trojans are currently on a four game losing streak. USC lost to Oregon 68-60 in LA. Although the Trojans are not a very good basketball team, they have been in a few close games, losing by two points to Northwestern, lost by three to Minnesota and by five to Ohio St. Win those three games and they would be a much more dangerous opponent. If the Big Ten Conference started today, USC would be the # 15 seed in the tournament. They are going to give Oregon all they can handle. Let's hope our Ducks are ready for the battle at hand.
  7. It took a while, but I'm thoroughly enjoying all the B1G Ten games. At first I just watched the Ducks play, but now take an interest in the other games as were getting closer to the post season. There is a lot more parity in the league than I thought. Using the current conference standings, I have listed the winning and losing streaks for each team. All games are included, non-conference and conference games. SCHOOL WINNING STREAK LOSING STREAK Michigan State 13 2 Michigan 7 2 Maryland 5 2 Wisconsin 8 3 UCLA 9 4 Purdue 7 4 Illinois 5 3 Oregon 9 5 Nebraska 6 6 Indiana 5 5 Ohio State 3 3 Rutgers 4 3 Minnesota 3 4 USC 4 3 Iowa 5 3 Northwestern 4 3 Penn State 6 7 Washington 5 6
  8. Although It's early in the season, I'm skeptical of how good our pitching staff is. Giving up 24 runs in two games to Rhode Island, an unranked team is not a good sign of things to come. I took a look at Oregon's last two games from last year against Texas A&M. The Ducks pitching gave up 25 runs in those games. Oregon lost by scores of 10-6 and 15-9. Against Texas A&M... pitcher IP H R ER BB SO WP NP ERA Ryan Featherstone 0.2 0 3 3 4 0 2 28 31.15 game one Grayson Grinsell 4 6 4 4 2 2 2 85 9.00 game two Game against Rhode Island Grayson Grinsell 5.1 6 4 4 1 4 1 81 7.06 game one Ryan featherstone 0.2 2 5 5 2 1 1 30 51.9 game one Currently for this season, Grinsell's ERA is 4.35 and Featherstone is 16.88. The comparison for these pitchers from last year to this year is eerily the same.
  9. I completely agree with you guys that Oregon can't lose to lower class teams, especially on their home field. I will use our little brother to point out what can and did happen to them. After winning back-to-back baseball championships, their 2008 season came crashing back to Earth. They did not make the playoffs. They lost to Gonzaga 11-6 and 4-2 in Spokane, Utah Valley beat them 11-6 in Corvallis and a loss to Long Beach State 10-0 in Long Beach. Fast forward to 2015 where they did make the NCAA Baseball Playoffs. Losing twice to New Mexico 7-4 and 5-2 in Surprise, Arizona and losing in Corvallis twice to Cal Poly 8-1 and 7-2. They had a 39-18-1 record and you would think they would start the playoffs at home but they were sent packing to Dallas where they lost two of three games to be eliminated. Looking ahead to Rhode Island, I checked to see their record. There is no way Oregon should lose to these guys. They beat William and Mary 10-9, lost 5-4 (in 7 innings) and wait for it...won the rubber match 36-22 (in 7 innings)!!! I thought I was looking at a football score. In that game there were a combined 40 hits and 7 errors. Columbia doesn't start their season until Friday, February 21st. Bottom line...the Ducks have absolutely no excuse to lose any of these games or it will come back to bite them in the butt if they do.
  10. I was curious how far the Ducks had to travel now that we are in the Big Ten conference. I compared it to the PAC-12 conference. Listed below are approximate air miles to the teams destination. Distance from EUGENE to... Seattle 235 miles Pullman 350 Bay Area 450 Salt Lake 615 Los Angeles 750 Phoenix 950 Boulder 955 Tucson 1060 Big Ten Lincoln, Nebraska Cornhuskers 1360 miles Minneapolis, MN Golden Gophers 1475 Iowa City, Iowa Hawkeyes 1600 Madison, Wisconsin Badgers 1710 Bloomington, IN Hoosiers 1760 Evanston, IL Wildcats 1785 Champaign, IL Fightin' Illini 1805 W. Lafayette, IN Boilermakers 1855 E. Lansing, MI Spartans 1925 Ann Arbor, MI Wolverines 2000 Columbus, OH Buckeyes 2075 State College, PA Nittany Lions 2300 College Park, MD Terrapins 2400 Piscataway, NJ Scarlet Knights 2480 This puts things in perspective when Oregon's closest opponent (Nebraska) is farther away then the Ducks farthest opponent (Tucson) when we were in the PAC-12. Then I checked into Oregon's football, baseball and basketball schedules. Football - The Ducks had road games against UCLA, Purdue, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn St. (Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis), Ohio St. (Rose Bowl). Total mileage round trip was 17,950. Baseball - The Ducks have road games against USC, Ohio St., Maryland, Michigan St. and Iowa. Total miles: 17,660. Basketball - The Ducks have road games against Texas A&M, San Diego St. and Alabama in Las Vegas, USC, Stanford, Ohio St, Penn St., Minnesota, UCLA, Michigan, Michigan St., Iowa, Wisconsin and Washington. Total miles: 20,890!!! Note: the games against Ohio St. and Penn St., Michigan and Michigan St and Iowa and Wisconsin are based on one trip. THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE!
  11. I was also wondering why Oregon is starting their baseball season at home. I checked the schedule's for the other Big Ten teams and all of them are playing games in warm, sunny weather in the south. Here's a look at where their at... Illinois first 9 games are on the road in Texas and Nevada Indiana first 4 road games are on the road, one at home, 3 on the road, one at home, 4 on the road. What a disaster! These games are played in Arizona, North Carolina and Florida. Iowa ten road games in Florida and Texas Maryland ten road games in North and South Carolina Michigan 16 road games in Puerto Rico, Texas and California Michigan State 15 road games in North Carolina, Texas and South Carolina Minnesota nine road games in Texas Nebraska ten road games in Texas, Arizona and Louisiana Northwestern 14 road games in California, North and South Carolina Ohio State nine road games in Arizona, Florida and Texas Penn State ten road games in Puerto Rico and Virginia Purdue 12 road games in Texas and North Carolina Rutgers ten road games in Georgia, Arizona and South Carolina UCLA 13 'road' games in California and Texas. Some of their 'road games' are at home USC 12 'road' games in California and Texas. Some of their 'road games' are at home Washington 12 road games in South Carolina, California and Nevada Another thing I noticed in the Big Ten schedule...Michigan and Illinois play their three game series March 7th, 8th and 9th in Florida. Two cold-weather schools playing in the south.
