This might be unpopular, but unless the Ducks find a QB in a hurry and an O line to protect him it could be rough.  I have a couple games as toss ups, that could go either way.  I think 6-5 at worst and 8-3 as best. I'm hoping our D coordinator is as advertised and maybe those toss ups go our way?  It's a  long time until then so lets just call it a hunch?

I think this season will define the future at Oregon for Mario Cristobal. I know a lot of you are totally on the MC bandwagon, but I still see some red flags.  Back up the recruiting bravado and win the Pac-12 again, improve in game decisions and be the CEO,  I think he's here for a while.  Mediocre season and refusing to let Moorhead call the plays and IMHO,  he's looking for employment in a couple years.  Again, just my two cents.

  1. She  seems to have peaked very early in the season against lesser talent and then got exposed as a ball handler in the Pac-12.  She is a really good player, don't get me wrong, but just not the leader we need yet.  Maybe the GOAT can come in and give them a good pep talk before the first game in the bubble and get them motivated.

    GO Ducks!!!

  2. I really hope Bigby can come in and be the dominant point guard and leader we need.  Paopoa just doesn't seem to be that person right now. I hope I'm wrong but I'm already on record here predicting one and done in the dance.  Our guards just don't impress me at all and this just seems like a lost season.  I'm also a little concerned about the lack of conditioning that appears to me some of our players exhibit.  I just hope next year it all comes together.

With a full year and a full offseason and preseason for the team to really jell and find their identity and with KG as coach, I'm confident this fall will be the start of a much better year.

  3. About time?  No looks like a pretty good chance at a 9 or 10 win season.  Don't think we have the full stable to run with osu's horses-yet. I think 9-3 and a Pac-12 title game would be the least MC should be expected to do with all the hype I've been reading about the coaches and team.  Only thing holding them back right now is QB and I for one think that will be answered very quickly.  So...

The guard experience was definitely NOT on display yesterday.  Starters Chavez & Shelly were a combined 0-5 shooting, zero total points, 28 minutes between the two.  UCLA exposed our lack of speed and quickness at the guard position as evidenced by their full court double teaming.  OSU's guards were brilliant with their back door cuts.  Ducks back off in response thus opening up uncontested threes for the Beavs.  How we miss the speed (and fire) of Minyon, Maite and Sabrina.

By the way anyone know what's up with Kylee Watson?  6-4, top 20 national yet for the most part is MIA this season.

There are some who would say that most of the 5 highly rated recruits have been pretty much MIA this season.  Also KG said this could be his best shooting team ever.  Stats don't back that up either.  Clearly having their issues with  shooting.  I would argue that maybe with the corona virus and all that this team is not in that good of physical shape as well which effects your legs and that effects your shooting. Let's hope this was an aberration year all the way around.  Outside of Sedona and Nyara, I haven't been that impressed by any of the others on a consistent basis.

I know I'm spoiled with the loss of the goat and her 2 running mates...

  5. The ladies struggled with perimeter defense, and fall to the better team that wanted it more today.  Sedona had 22, Boley and Mikesell 16 and Sabally 13.  OSU scores 70 points in the last three quarters, 50 in the second half with 6 players in double figures and give Oregon another head scratching loss.  Ducks out rebound beavers 36-31 and win the turnover battle 5-9 but are gunned down as the beavers shoot 50% overall and 55% from three compared to our Ducks who shoot 42 & 50.  Three point defense is non-existent with this team.

Hope KG and the ladies figure it out quickly or they're likely one and done in the Pac-12 tournament and maybe the NCAA as well.  Who do we have coming in next year?  Somebody remind me as we might need an upgrade from what I'm seeing right now.  Anyone know where Paopao was?  Covid?  Maybe they are just young?  This whole year has seemed to be out of whack.  Hope it's an anomaly and we get back to where we need to be. KG has proven he's a great coach so I'm puzzzled by the up and down and sloppy play. Anyway as always,

    GO Ducks!!!

  6. Until we figure out how to stop third and long situations regularly we never will.  I can't even count the number of times I've said aloud, "well it's third and long, they've got us right where they want us.  Absolutely intolerable track record in this regard.  PRESSURE. PRESSURE, PRESSURE.  Pressure on defense is the key to winning any game in almost any team sport you care to name. Stop the damned prevent defense in those situations and Blitz the hell out of them and make them throw it quickly.  We have the people to do it.  This getting to be a broken record.  Anyway,

  7. Yeah ol' Larry made a $h!t ton of money though, didn't he?  Laughing all the way to the bank.  That's why you don't hire an Arsonist to run your fire department, or a tennis guy to run a conference that, to be honest, is run by football.  WTH were they thinking???

  8. "I could be wrong, giving the Pac-12 credit for foresight usually is. Instead of starting as planned with a 10 game schedule or playing in the spring they went with a shortened AND compressed season right at the height of the pandemic."

When you go into the Pac-12 offices you will hear the theme from looney toons on the speakers...

It's goes with the offensive stuff... But killer instinct.

MC is pretty happy burning clock as a strategy in the second half when up. Though what has made Oregon teams great in the past decade is the killer instinct of pushing the advantage and putting up major points and leaving no doubt who won the game and putting the opponents away.

Games get a bit too close for comfort in the fourth quarter sometimes and it would be nice not just burning clock but burning down the score board with POINTS!

Also if Oregon can put up enough points by the fourth quarter then the second or even third strinn guys can get a look on the field for some live reps.

Yeah and winning those games where the other team is let back into it and outscores us in the second half or 4th quarter leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  I totally agree about attacking instead of playing prevent offense so the subs can get meaningful minutes...

    GO Ducks!!!

  10. So I've been trying to put into words what Shough reminded me of last year and I finally figured it out.  You know the second baseman who has a great arm but in big situations seems to forget how to make the easy throw to 1st base?  That's what he looked like way too often last year.
