  1. This may be unpopular but I really believe that Richardson is a 2 guard miscast as a PG.  When you watch Pritchard, he initiates the offense.  Richardson however is best creating for himself.  Very different skill sets.  Will can shoot the 3 ball well and if isolated to that skill set and  getting "himself" to the rim, might be a far more effective player for us.

I might put Terry and Richardson in at the same time to see how that works for a few games with Will playing the SG...

I think they're bringing him in to play the Nickel spot. He has CB technique and polish, Safety size and range, and come down in the Box and help out in run defense.

Verone McKinley III instincts and polish with Jevon Holland athleticism.

That's a ton to like Chico!

I wholeheartedly agree, most of the people moving this season with Jordon Scott involved him being moved. Which is surprising, considering how valuable he has been in the past. After Jordon’s freshman season, where he was a 247 freshman All-American, I thought we could have a baby Vince Wilfork on our hands. Jordon didn’t improve like you would expect him to. He was still a key part of this defense 2017-19 and was responsible for a lot of eaten up blocks and those goal line and short yardage stops, and deserves to be remembered for that.
In 2020 - wooooo, I think those saying his decision to lose weight for NFL scouts hurt him are correct. He didn’t look any more explosive, less so actually. Jordon lost what made him unique, which was his leverage from being a wide and short rock. Honestly he looked awful for most of the season, it looked like he finally woke up for part of the Fiesta Bowl. The staff most likely agreed since he and Faoliu were both benched from being starters for the Pac-12 championship and Kristian Williams looked better.
It says a lot that Scott didn’t receive a combine invite. Austin Faoliu did, as an FYI. I’ve seen Oregon fans blame the DBs and LBs for the defensive shortcomings this season, but I’m staunchly in the camp that it was the interior DL that was by far the weakness of the team.

We sure didn't set the edges too well did we?

  4. Mario needs to be the CFO of this team and allow his coordinators to do their job.  He and mini Mario "Mirabal"  keep making the O line epic.  The rest of Mario's time should be getting us amazing recruiting classes like he's been doing and keeping a great revolving door of coaches always on the upgrade in Eugene.

  5. I think keeping confidence at an all time high is important with Ty, Butterfield and Ashford..... Brown has the confidence but maybe not the straight up talent of the others but the last thing I'd want to do is to have  another "SHOUGH Effect"  with my freshman.  Brown seems logical till probably mid season and then you never know what can happen but I would not let Ty be fed to the Buckeyes  as a true freshman.  He can more than redeem himself as a RF against Georgia the next year!

  6. This kid by all measures was a Texas lean but out of the blue... BAM!  He commits to Oregon!  He's a 6 foot 200 pound safety and you know we need them.  It appears that Yates our new Safety's coach might have his fingers all over this one.  Landon was offered by CAL and seems to have a relationship with Marcel.  It's a great 2022 gift early!  Texas seems miffed they missed out on him.  That's got to be a good thing for us.

I hope this isn't a commitment to drive up his stock but I'm hopeful he is in fact solid to the Ducks...

It's a good get!  Go Ducks!

  7. They have no legs under their jumpers and they are getting blown past by stronger more in shape teams. Stanford, UCLA, AZ.....

I'd like to forget for a second  if they can  beat the teams above "this year" but rather can they even stay competitive?  If I'm being honest this looks diet,  conditioning and confidence  to me....

I'd also add that I think all these young Ducks are figuring out in a hurry how much of a jump  it is from high school awesome  to D-1 struggling and the humbling role that can take.

  8. I know that Shough had Ivy League offers from high school, would an Ivy League School still let him in to be their ringer, if his grades are still strong?  Has that ever happened in that kind of academia?  I agree with the above posts that Shough's confidence is the biggest concern.  When he was playing his 1st 2 games, he was having fun and the offense looked good.  He lost to the Beavs and BLAMO, something happened and that snowballed further against Cal.  Tyler can still play this game in the right environment but a bad D-1 school and his confidence could permanently shattered.

  9. To me, if Flowe is healthy to go along with Sewell,  Funa, Mr. Thibs, Dorlus with Hill, McKinley and Wright lurking in the secondary, that's a lot to like!

The Buckeye game will set the tone and many are nervous about it but I'd add that OSU is breaking in a new QB too.  The Ducks could steal that game under Brown's veteran  leadership with a bunch of seasoned playmakers coming back for him to throw and hand the ball off too.

Dorlus and Flowe are the X factors for me.  If they show out, our D will be DAMN GOOD with all the proven studs we already know assisting them.

I also agree year after next this team could be lethal, national championship good!

  10. If you gave Justin Bama talented WR's at Oregon, he wins the Heisman!   I'd also add Justin's arm strength is Elway live and that plus great size and a good brain has made the NFL take notice in a hurry. The bonus is Justin actually has some DUDES that can catch his natural speed now.  I wonder how much zip he had to take off his ball at Oregon to make catchable balls for lesser WR's?

What I think is VERY impressive, Justin accomplished all of this with one of the worst statistical O line's in the NFL.   Just imagine what he'll be able to do with a Penei Sewell helping him again or a talent of similar production?

If the Chargers O line can keep Justin clean, he'll  destroy NFL  secondary's with that cannon.

  11. Let me just say that if I were to wear Purple and Gold or Brown and Orange  I might start to feel worse about myself quite quickly!  If we can agree on that, perhaps wearing the Buckeyes practice uniforms in the National Championship against a team we've never beaten, might have been a uniform combo best utilized for the Portland State games?!  I'll leave it there.....

  12. To me, who gives us the best chance to beat The Buckeyes on their field next year?  I would say that if we had a Vernon Adams going into OSU, I'd REALLY like our chances. You just can't teach the feel VA instinctively had!  The good news is OSU is breaking in a new QB too.  Now can Shough be rebuilt with confidence?  I have my doubts and against a team as fast and disciplined as OSU on D, it's a tall task for a great QB. Marcus and Herbert both would have to bring their A games.   Brown seems like the stronger   mental candidate and I think that's why he came back.  Even then, Brown will have to have the best game he's ever had to beat these Buckeyes.   I could see Ty coming in at the 3rd quarter, if he shows well spring and fall camps  and Brown struggles early at The Shoe.

I'm not sure that Robby Ashford will get a fair shake come spring ball but I like a baseball player with his size, dual threat and a fast release.  That could be a Russell Wilson type of special.  Sure would like to see what he could do in JoMo's offense with the 1's, if even just for some meaningful spring work.

Heyward would not be the full DC, but Co-DC with Sirmon as DeRuyter was.  Coach Sirmon is lining himself up to be DC somewhere as well eventually...

This makes sense as to why Heyward would go there and take less right now....  This will also help Cal's recruiting!
