  1. I see your point, but I also see how coaches like to use two running backs primarily with a third for occasional relief or special situations, such as James with short yardage this year. Running back No. 4 and No. 5 don't see the field unless it is a rare year of two or even three injuries at running back. Seems that it pretty much guarantees that one or two transfers every year will be the norm. (After all that work recruiting!) Jordan James
  2. I am surprised at this, as I think Dante Dowdell is locked in for us, and he is one of the nations leading running backs. Limar is a legit 4-Star on Rivals, and has quite the impressive offer list. (Michigan, USC and Washington) With all the needs we have, (do we have many linebackers left?) do we need another running back with Irving, Whittington, James, Dowdell...and this guy too? Oregon Recruiting: Ducks pick up prediction to flip RB Jayden Limar DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM According to a prediction from @JHopkinsSD, the Ducks are in great shape to flip 4-star RB Jayden Limar from Notre Dame.
  3. Is it my imagination, or did it appear that Hutson had to stand near Lanning during the games? I think this was the MO with Cristobal, and it sure seemed that he would be standing near Lanning, and his visage was one of not wanting to be there? Did you get that impression?
  4. My feeling going into this season was that I hoped for 10 wins. I did not predict it or anything, because I was not sure Oregon could win 10 games with a new staff, and I did not feel good about predicting less...just as an intense fan. I do think 10 wins has become standard in a way, because if you win 10 games...you are a good team, and you know everyone recognizes that and respects the Ducks. Ten wins in the regular season can usually get you into a good bowl, although I think the Huskies (Alamo) might disagree with that this year. It makes this Holiday Bowl SO IMPORTANT for Dan Lanning in terms of his perception with the recruits, the fans and the media. Gotta get that 10th!
  5. ...is Kris Hutson. It seems he was always being watched by both Cristobal and Lanning as a loose cannon who can create a penalty or a mistake at any time. He is a good receiver who helped us, but it also seems he thinks he is much more indispensable than he actually is. I don't want him to leave, but I also want better judgment on running out kickoffs, and antics after he made a good catch. Agree? Remember this little "conference" during the season?
  6. Duck Fan 76...I think you are very kind and generous.
  7. What did John Canzano think of the Will Stein hire? I called around after learning that the University of Oregon is hiring Will Stein as the next offensive coordinator. One power-five conference head coach told me of Stein: “He’s a stud. He’s won everywhere he has been. Some elite innovation on his film. Best trait is how he uses his players and capitalizes on their strengths.” Stein, 33, comes to Oregon from the University of Texas-San Antonio. He played his college ball at Louisville under Charlie Strong, among others. He was a star high school quarterback in Kentucky. While at Trinity High School he won three state titles. Stein still holds the school record for touchdown passes (54) in a single season. What do I think of the hire for Oregon? Intrigued. Also, let’s face it — the Ducks need to be a lot better on defense next season or it won’t matter who calls the plays on offense. That was apparent down the stretch this season. Still, I liked a lot of what I heard about Stein. Feels Kenny Dillingham-esque.
  8. Of the 11 players who have announced leaving thus far--none were surprises to the coaching staff. (From another site a day and a half ago) Most were told how unrealistic it is for them to play much in 2023, and thus Lanning is making room. Before we become frustrated with a player or two who we wanted to remain--there are apparently other issues involved with some players, but again--only the coaches know the full truth as we are not there. In another thread it was reported (Post No. 40) that only 5% of the total snaps in the season had these 11 players in them. Not missing much, and 5% can/will be easily replaced. Significant roster turnover will be the norm now, and I would not be surprised if some of the transfers have a "fit" issue with the offense or defense.
  9. This is not the number I have seen. In the article below, (wrote three days ago) they report over 3,000 in the portal last year, not 8,200. Where did you get that high of number? https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/article269614316.html
  10. Oh my...I can't celebrate a new offensive coordinator. Like me, he's on his way out...
  11. Holy Crap! In the short video near the top...he says he wants to take deep shots twice a quarter? (Eight times a game?) "Under Stein’s tutelage, the UTSA wideouts smashed records and emerged as one of the top groups in the FBS in 2021. Joshua Cephus, De’Corian Clark, and Franklin combined to catch 204 passes for 2,585 yards and 25 TDs and made UTSA one of only three teams (Appalachian State, Ohio State) to have three receivers with at least 50 receptions and 750 yards in 2021." "This season, Franklin and Cephus combined for 2,085 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2022."
  12. Whoa! Going through the bio of Will Stein, and I learn that Stein was the QB coach and OC for the high school that Card played at? I think you may have...nailed it.
  13. At the time, Dilly was a questionable hire as well. We really knew very little about him, his philosophy, play-calling etc., as his time at Florida State did not move the needle. We simply knew that Lanning knew him, his background, coaching tree etc. We once hired an OC, not a HC of a tiny little college...New Hampshire, and did OK with that hire. I recall at the time of the ridicule from Beaver and Husky fans, so let's learn about him and see what he can do. I think Danny would tell us...
  14. I do not want any reference to "that" word at all here. It was announced in this thread, and there is just no need for a high-brow forum. I edited out what you had...
  15. Have I told you how much I love you today? What you provide us in articles and managing the Duck News Hunter team is simply amazing. You add articles of a topic to a thread, you provide in-game updates and today you have KILLED-IT with the OC hire thread. While this is not the same arena, the quote from Winston Churchill applies, "Never, (at FishDuck) has so much been owed by so many to so few." (Battle of Britain) The time you put into this is crazy, and simply saying, "Thank you," seems lame. I do want to publicly thank you!
  16. Boy...knock me over with a Duck Feather! What does he have left to prove? He looks NFL ready to me! (Maybe a BIG NIL contract?)
  17. ...and I'd love to know what it is. We are desperate for offensive linemen and searching the portal for OL, as well as the JCs...and we lose a former top-80 recruit? Who better to learn from than Klemm? Some guys are snake-bitten with injuries...is he one of those? Coaches not sold on upside? He isn't sold on his ability to break-through? I do not get this at all...
  18. He might be a tweener. He is not as fast as Bassa or the Georgia linebackers and was not really great at pass coverage, or blitzing and I sense that Oregon is going lighter/faster. Or I am completely wrong. Just guessing...
  19. I am raising my hand, because I was there. We have a lot to be grateful for…
  20. Great stuff Jordan, and a game with Notre Dame would be fun for all.
  21. Great thread to start 12Duck72, as I am disappointed and do critical analysis of what went wrong...I am a staunch fan no matter what. And it is great to have a number of Oregon fans who are like us--loyal to a fault. Your post was a breath of fresh air that I needed--THANKS. Tons of Great Fans...
  22. My FishDuck Friends, Part of the hassle-factor of maintaining the forum is the ton of time dedicated to keeping it clean of trollers. We get LOTS of fans from other schools who will try to appear as if they are an Oregon fan, and then come in to blast negative and add to our misery. And we have four people over the past two years who have an OCD affliction with posting extreme negative over-and-over. Even when banned--they can return through clever means and sign up again. And starting a nasty-negative post at midnight is one of the tactics of one of those banned in the past. So at 1:30 in morning I had to post a response when I got up to go to the restroom--to let him know--we don't allow venting. Having a safe place to post requires a ton of effort, and yet even with all the work--the forum is extremely fragile.
