  1. Thank you olcodgerduck, as I agree with your conclusion. Next week, I begin to take these concepts further as I wanted to introduce the ideas today of what I thought was going on. The beauty also is....the opposing coaches can see on film, and know precisely what Oregon is doing and why. But it is hard to stop it!
  2. Thank you NJDuck for your thoughts, your observations about Pate and Klatt....and all the incredible work you do posting articles for the rest of us. Just trying to do my part too!
  3. My friends, I realized after I wrote the article that I came on strong as "this is the strategy," when the truth is--I do not know for certain. Sometimes you feel certain, and have facts to support your position, but in the end...we are all just guessing. It is like this OBD Member after the Georgia game who was a COMPLETE IDIOT. Or the people who were declaring in early September that Bo Nix is not the answer, but Ty Thompson should be played instead. Or the people last week writing every day last week that UCLA was going to win? In all cases--the logic was great, but again--we are all just guessing in the end. I've made some big calls in the last 11 years, but I've also been wrong on some biggies an equal number of times. When people assert they know for sure on a topic....I just roll my eyes. I don't have to say anything, because like you and I...those people will be humbled ultimately as well. So while I think I connected some very compelling dots--I do not know for sure. Thus why it will be so interesting to watch for it in games, as I sure love how all three major elements are working together toward victory.
  4. I was thinking about the impact of appearances of the conference, and I understand that Oregon will be perceived better if there are a few other very strong teams in the Pac-12. I also understand that the pundits respect the conference more if USC, UCLA and Washington are strong teams. But I loathe having those three being strong. So I began to think about, "if you MUST have three other teams besides Oregon that are strong, and top-15-in-the-nation-worthy,...who would I allow?" My three: Utah--respect the coach, like the fans and they are in a tougher recruiting spot than Seattle or LA as we are. Washington State--the classic underdog, and ditto as above about recruiting. Oregon State--yes, they are our rival, but if there was only two teams on top...I would like it to be Oregon and OSU. I respect what Coach Smith is building, and ditto for them in recruiting too. If I had to pick two others instead of three...it would be WSU and OSU. But this will never happen...or could it when LA teams leave? Who are your choices and why?
  5. Cole Martin is the son of Oregon corner coach Demetrious Martin. Doubt it.
  6. What a fantastic case study for how it can go badly for all parties. This is the formative stuff that can get things changed with NIL later, perhaps with limits, caps, etc?
  7. What a choice for a first game. The FishDuck photographers were telling me that it was "like a game in 2012," with the crowd energy. Great to see you back here! Jeremiah Geiger, Author at FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM Hey, my name is Jeremiah Geiger, and I am currently in the United States Army. The reason I became a Ducks fan was because my dad went to the University of Oregon, and I have followed them...
  8. I would like to think that an OL "flip" from someone else is quite possible between what we show on offense, and the opportunity.
  9. The defense giving up a 50% 3rd down conversion ratio? Giving up 29 points per game? Whew! The good news? There is a ton of upside, this is Lanning specialty and when that is brought down to 20 points per game with our offense....look out!
  10. If we had scheduled and beat Wyoming for example--we are poised to be in the Playoff. This is a scheduling issue, but yet--the payoff for the AD was significant. Not to mention the national eyes if you showed well. The gamble of scheduling....
  11. Unrated by Rivals, and no other offer listed by them. (I don't doubt the New Mexico offer on another site) On3 says he is 6'6" and 330 lbs. Three years to play two and is a redshirt candidate, when he gets here to further develop his raw abilities.
  12. Damn right David. Kirk Herbstreit did not pick us on Saturday, but he made a very astute comment in the past... College Football is better when Oregon is Elite (And everyone loves the Duck!)
  13. Canzano reported that his contact, a former exec in the business, stated that these negotiations for streaming are very complex and take a ton of time, hence why we have not heard anything. It can go as long as another couple of months before things are ironed out. Something I have to ask myself..."do we need the same revenue amount as the B1G members?" The answer is no, if we can fund our sports and objectives on the new media/streaming contract. The Mountain West, for example, will receive a fraction of what we are receiving and will survive and play on. The Big-12 will not have revenues like the big two, but they will survive. Since I do not know the inner working of the athletic budget at Oregon, what Mullens plans are, what Phil is going to leave us later, etc....it is hard to know what it takes to thrive. But I do feel at this time that when addressing all the money of the B1G would offer, yet considering the travel, impact to fellow Pac-12 members, busted partnerships and traditions...
  14. We will be hosed at eight--guaranteed. They will not assure conference champions, so we will be on the outside at eight, IMHO.
  15. It was here in the forum, and still on the front page.
  16. Yes, I know he gets paid more than any of us can imagine, but doesn't this photo say a ton? This comes from taking hours of notes of the telecast, including moments for screenshots for my own use in the forum and for the writers of FishDuck. This one hit me more than others, and thought I'd share it. That is Joe Lorig on the left...
  17. That would destroy the athletic budgets at most universities. They need those games to pay for all the other sports. The only teams affected by the additional games are less than 5% of the total NCAA schools beyond one extra game, and they are going to be paid handsomely for being there. Part of the winning effort--having depth. Don't penalize 95% when the 5% are going to clean up financially....IMHO at first blush.
  18. I am guessing, but since our pass rush is weak....we need help, and you offer a bunch and find out who is the star?
  19. You mean you want someone like this? Donte Dowdell, 2023 Verbal Recruit to Oregon
  20. You did not get any response because we all agreed with your rankings, and now the "experts" at ScoopDuck do as well. You would be surprised at the articles written on other sites after the topic was published at FishDuck first. A high complement to you David, and well deserved.
  21. In the miraculous comeback at UCLA in the 1970s...Coach Ken Woody was the kicker and did the same thing. Kicked the onside perfect, and recovered it himself. That is one time I love history repeating! Ken Woody kicking the winning field goal against Washington, under the hold of John Harrington, Joey's father. How cool is that?
  22. I am fully expecting that as well. I figured whoever was No. 4 and No. 5 (with Dowdell coming) would be leaving, but frankly I thought Noah Whittingham would be one of them. He has been quite the surprise to me.
  23. I think this is a great article for "why not" here at Oregon? Everybody would win!
  24. Great point, and so true. I am very happy for him and the team that he has turned into such a reliable resource. We will need him at crunch time in the future, and technically--he kicked the wining points versus Washington State this year too. (44-41)
  25. Please keep in mind two points this is all brought up...1) when something is taken from a pay-site, I wait 24 hours before discussing here. People pay for the right to that information to be immediate, and thus I wish to honor what those sites are doing. Their subscribers who want to eat up new information will read it over there inside the 24 hour period. 2) Byron has not left, and is still practicing with the team. This means that he WILL have four games to play in and yet retain a redshirt year. (I do not know if he has been on the field yet) So in case of RB injury or dings, Cardwell is available to help the Ducks yet this season and raise his NIL profile with a future team. Or he wins his spot back with the Ducks. Having fresh legs in relief from a proven RB can be quite an asset at the end of the season?
