  1. I know it has been placed in other threads, but there is some important priority information given in today's statement, and some BIG news concerning NIL in Congress that I was not aware of. Well worth the read.... Everything Commissioner George Kliavkoff said during Pac-12 Media Day regarding media rights and expansion 247SPORTS.COM A complete transcript of everything Commissioner George Kliavkoff said regarding media rights and expansion from Pac-12 Media Day.
  2. It always amazes me how Oregon seems to have a target on its back for many out there. Again...when millions more Pac-12 and Oregon fans get access to all conference sports via streaming--even the distorted numbers of this analysis written will change. The Ducks will be just fine.
  3. Steven Jones was killing-it pulling and blasting people on the offensive line before he got hurt last year. He returns as a senior, and his replacement during the season, Marcus Harper was blasting people in the Holiday Bowl. We have four veterans returning on the OL, and we have three superb portal transfers. The concern about the OL is out of ignorance, IMHO. Speaking of defensive analysis plays....we have a dandy coming up on Monday. FANTASTIC Blitz technique by Bassa in our bowl game! Here is a Bassa sack versus Arizona....
  4. Bottom line? We believe Oregon will score BOATLOADS of points, as we will have four savvy, experienced players starting on the offensive line along with the No. 1 rated OT in the portal that came to the Ducks. I could gush on about the WR room, the TEs and the deep RB room. Oh yeah. We do have a pretty experienced QB returning who could be in the Heisman race if things go as hoped. The real story is on defense; Oregon returns a ton of experienced players who are more familiar with the Lanning 4-2-5 MINT defense, but the real impact will be felt from the portal transfers. Lanning went out and plugged the holes and more; we saw the tightest coverage in the Spring Game than we've seen in years, as the QBs had very small windows to throw to. Without breaking them all down here....we got an elite pass rusher to complement some seniors, another pass rusher who showed us in the Spring Game why he is a 5-Star, and a perfect fit at the MAC linebacker who transferred in from Iowa. Because of superb portal recruiting at defensive back--it allowed a bulky safety (Jamal Hill) to move to MONEY linebacker, as between his stout run support and his coverage skills--I believe that he and Jeffrey Bassa have that spot covered well. We needed a stud DB, a freak at STAR, and got one from Mississippi. We got other portal transfers at Safety and Corner (2) and thus between them and the very experienced players returning--we are now beyond loaded in the secondary. You don't get a Bo Nix and all the seniors in a year as we do in 2023, thus why I think Oregon will have a very good year.
  5. Another source is below, which is a strategy that Lanning brought from Georgia. Has the Portal Solved Oregon's FREAK Problems? FISHDUCK.COM Oregon does have a freak problem with their football team. It is not a bizarre problem, but one that is unusual because of what Dan Lanning is trying to achieve…
  6. You can always spin negative if you try hard enough....well that and actively ignore six very tough teams in the conference...
  7. It is apparent to me, that we would all need a lot more background information in terms of how Deon set up expectations with the rules, what was stated to the team previously, and what was discussed with the offending player. We are making snap judgments with an incomplete picture, and this discussion really pulled that out.
  8. Good thing I like being the underdog!
  9. I am so torn on this; I think you make a great point, as part of teaching young men is demonstrating a class way of holding yourself. Yet doing it in public can make discipline a whole lot easier in the future.
  10. Interesting thing to ponder as things are slow; does it make sense to you to kick a player off the team in front of the entire team? Below is a video of Prime while at Jackson State, where he did kick a player off at a team meeting. On one hand, I think it is in terrible taste...an example of Coach Sanders being about "me" again. I do not recall other coaches anywhere doing this. On the other hand..... I've learned that the player had three violations of team rules, and frankly--I've also learned that the other members of a community need to know you mean business about your rules. Doing so in public can deliver that message. I see Pros and Cons to this one. Your thoughts?
  11. Frankly...what can academic Presidents add to the discussion anyway? I understand the pecking order, but I maintain that the ADs are the ones who should be in the room.
  12. No sweat. We all mess up once in a while. (I've admitted mine in public--a couple of times)
  13. ESPN says no announcement of a media deal on Friday to the public...but that does not mean the Pac-12 Presidents won't get an update on Thursday. But then...
  14. You are enjoying this way-too-much for a team that has not even played in the Big-12 yet. We have had this from fans like you for a year. My patience is short...
  15. Yep. It is especially strange considering that his team has not even played a Big-12 game yet!
  16. Do you really think Oregon‘s national exposure is going to decline with the new contract? Do you think any of us here are actually worried about that? Go Troll somewhere else.
  17. I think this is another example of some people looking for the negative, "no announcement-again this week." While I think the information above is pretty uplifting! But there will always be....
  18. Speculation on who the new partners are?
  19. We will get it done with more time to spare to our deadline, than the B1G did to theirs. As for the Big-12 deal, I think you will find that...
  20. When the Pac-12 Media deal comes out? We'll see about your statement!
  21. My Duck-Buddies--this is sounding better-and-better! Canzano wrote that 'a conference source,' told him that the negotiations have been “advanced and productive” and a deal is in “the near future." “We’ve had very productive negotiations,” the source told John. “New entrants have come in. We’re feeling good and our schools will be rewarded for their patience.” One thing is evident: The Pac-12 is seeing numbers it likes, has some new partners at the table, and believes a deal is near. “All the schools are together,” the source said. With a new deal signed that is superior to the Big-12, and the Pac-12 becomes the first conference to have a large presence on streaming, we will all be pleased....
  22. Yep. Liability issues, but a good thought for a party!
  23. I know we are in the running, but I thought Alabama had the lead for him now. It gets my heart pumping--thinking about him in green, and we’ll cross our fingers. Fun information Alex!
