  1. Franklin/Thornton, or Cota/Chapman? I can make a strong case for both groups, but my gut says “newbies.” The vets come in for third and long because Cota makes the tough catch, and Chapman is fricken 6’6”! But it is the young-guns I want stretching the field…but talk me out of it? Caleb Chapman at A&M
  2. Good gosh, some superb strength and skills there! (From the FishDuck Feed)
  3. I am spitballing here as to why....Dan Lanning and Kirby Smart know each other well, and if Oregon is planning to surprise the Bulldogs--disclosing the positions up front would help Georgia's preparation. Are you starting a fifth defensive back? Or not? That tells them about the new defense, and the profile of player you put in that spot tells Coach Smart a ton as well. I understand the chess game, but it sure makes covering the team more difficult...and I think this is over-the-top.
  4. Be sure to enjoy the incredible collection of articles curated for the FishDuck Feed, and I sure thank NJDuck for joining the team and killing-it. Below is crazy, and never been done at Oregon...ever.
  5. Quite the preliminary discussion! While they had input into the tweet thread....I cannot get excited about any of them. Yet I know we probably need to join if I want my Beloved Baseball to survive... Your thoughts?
  6. Amen Alex, as I agree completely. We have the talent, and our upside is only limited by the coaching and the willingness to go-for-it, and achieve our potential. No half-measures please!

  8. If you look at the two articles in this thread, the disparity between the "Big-2" conferences versus the rest is going to be so large that Oregon really only has two choices, IMHO. Get into the B1G and be more relevant within the "Big-2" conferences, or stay in the Pac-12 and accept that you must cut most sports later. Oregon will need to spend the same amount on football as the big-boys, thus coming from a smaller revenue pie--sports will have to be cut, in my view. (19 to 7 sports eventually is my prediction if we stay in the Pac-12) So, for me to continue to watch Our Beloved Diamond Ducks...I have to root for an invitation to the B1G and be the final straw that breaks the Pac-12 back. I am not wild about either choice, but the old days are not coming back.
  9. This is another superb article in the FishDuck Feed, and lays out all the variables that show how Oregon is a "no-brainer" to be invited to the B1G. I sure suggest both articles. Where Should The Big Ten Expand Next? We Crunched The Numbers. | FiveThirtyEight FIVETHIRTYEIGHT.COM Which schools should the Big Ten poach next?
  10. This is very good information, and it shows again how being in the Pac-12 is really going to cost us vs. "The Big-2." Canzano: Geeking out on the media value of Pac-12 schools WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM What are the members really worth? Good gosh....32 million a year now versus the 72 million B1G members will get? And in seven years the B1G members will get 100 million? This is stuff Oregon fans need to know...
  11. If Lanning plays these unusual safeties we have that are taller and longer to offset the Georgia tight ends, (as DazeNconfused suggested) then perhaps Lanning doesn’t want to disclose that so soon? Bridges won’t be listed as a corner, but he might be an ideal matchup,
  12. To me, the RB steps resembled the newer Inside Zone Read movement with the RB starting on the side and taking a step over versus a counter-like move. But we'll have fun keeping an eye out for that...
  13. This is superb, and it ranks Oregon nicely.
  14. This is a perfect analysis article; short, easy to read as we easily learn more Oregon football. Welcome back to Coach Boles, as he and I began our alternating analysis articles on Thursdays as I had the first one about Bradyn Swinson, and now Coach Boles is showing us a play in the Dillingham offense to be looking out for. I will have an analysis next Thursday about what to watch for with this new defense, as Coach Boles and I will be having a Thursday analysis every week for the next six months! Learn more Oregon football!
  15. I think that is very true this year, and I do hope we face them in the conference championship. A good beat-down of USC will prevent many of these dumb articles in the future.

  17. Quotes from Huskies....and I can't make this stuff up! "Oregon with Knight reminds me of the town in High Plains Drifter with Clint Eastwood. He just takes over and makes his own rules because they all fear they can’t survive without him. I can picture Knight watching that movie and imagining he’s Clint Eastwood." "Oregon getting an invite and the UW being left behind is my biggest fear in regards to the B1G." "Heck, if I was B1G inviting schools into my conference, I'd invite Utah 100x's faster than I would Oregon. And that really has little to do with my distain for Phil/Oregon. I just think Utah is a MUCH better fit." "UW is a better sports university not to mention academics, than some of the current schools in both the B1G and the SEC." "Oregon is very nervous because the only thing they have going for them is they are slightly above average in sports. What else do they have to offer a super conference, their uniforms? They better get out there and try and sell that "what else" to the B1G and they better do it often." "I just don't think the B1G would take Oregon over Cal. The ONLY thing Oregon has going for them is what Phil Knight/Nike created, and I don't see ANYONE wanting to willingly jump in bed with Phil Knight/Nike/Oregon if they don't have to." Good gosh, I can darn near taste their bitter-bile in my mouth!
  18. If Oregon had just won a national championship the way Georgia did....I would be so full of myself that other fans would find me horrendous to be around. So I think the restraint that 'Dawg fans have shown here says a ton about just how classy they are, and I am grateful they share with us. They have every right to be proud, and I hope we get to that level someday as well.
  19. Boy...this is a honeymoon period for a coach like NONE I've ever seen. We all so love him....until he blows a game. But it is fun for now!
  20. And...I am grateful for the article, as it is a great topic for us to ponder. Thank you David.
  21. I think I am donating enough for the program...and feel silly with what I do as it is!
  22. This is an outstanding article that will tell you a TON about Dan Lanning. This writer is killing-it... (From the FishDuck Feed!) Canzano: Oregon Ducks' coach Dan Lanning -- and his team -- are never far from home WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM Ducks coach stakes a claim in Eugene. In so many respects...he seems to be "too-good-to-be-true!" We should cherish the time he is here...and after reading this--I think it may be longer than most might think.
