I cannot convey my level of agreement, as they are now fun to watch. Now the new fence distance has changed things, but the opposing teams are going-long more often as well.
I am seeing superb improvement and development of the players. Players that had minor roles last year are big-hitters this year, and pitchers that I could not rely on at all in relief have improved tremendously. By the end of this year--this team could really jell and make some noise.
I love the long-term with Coach Waz, and we all win as a result.

Women’s Golf Up To No. 2 In National Rankings
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women’s golf team added another milestone to its impressive 2021-22 season on Wednesday, moving up to No. 2 in the national Golfstat rankings after winning the Florida State Match Up last weekend in Tallahassee.
Oregon is up to No. 2 for the first time after spending the previous two weeks at No. 3, trailing only Pac-12 rival Stanford for the top spot in the nation. Prior to this season, a No. 5 ranking at the end of the 1996-97 campaign is believed to be the highest ranking in program history.
The Ducks shot 3 under as a team to win the Florida State Match Up, their second victory of the season after opening the fall with a historic 26-under performance to dominate the Mason Rudolph Championship. Oregon has won three tournaments in the last calendar year after the program went more than five years without a team victory prior to the arrival of head coach Derek Radley and assistant Monica Vaughn.
Sophomore Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu won the individual title at the Mason Rudolph Championship and placed second last weekend in Tallahassee. Senior Tze-Han (Heather) Lin has posted a team-high three top-10 finishes already this season while Lu, Briana Chacon and Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen have each earned two, and Ching-Tzu Chen has one along with an 11th-place finish.
Oregon will return to action on Sunday at the Northrop Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif., facing a field that features nine other teams in the national top 25. The Ducks will be the highest-ranked team in the field, with No. 5 Wake Forest and No. 6 Virginia also representing the top 10.

Friends, help me please.
Why is this weekend a particularly good weekend to host this kind of talent? I think this Conerly's 2nd visit? Don't know about the other guys. Isn't this a 'dead' sports weekend on campus?
Make no mistake, I'm happy all these guys are tripping to Eugene but I'm confused as to why so many guys are coming this weekend when they cannot experience a football weekend.
Thanks.
Hey Jon--I am guessing, but what I know of recruiting....1) get them in when they want, and if they want now--better than none at all. 2) When you have a big group like this...you can pull all the stops out and have celebrity Oregon former players on hand, for example--really go all-out, vs. what would happen for one recruit visiting.
3) Showing the recruits how the staff actually operates with practices and interacts with current players helps the recruits and the parents. 4) Two of those guys are deciding soon for 2022 still, and if this can seal-the-deal....do it. 5) Many of the 2023 recruits want to decide this spring and summer to get the decision out of the way before football season so they can focus upon their senior season and not the hassle of recruiting.
Frankly....this has turned out to be a MUCH bigger weekend for recruiting than most of us thought. See the thread about the Lanning interview and scroll down and see some of my quotes about recruiting from Lanning...
Or, I am full-of-it, and am just guessing like everyone else!

Question from Sportswriter: This is Oregon, and people are saying that the fact it is your first head coaching job and it is at a place like Oregon....puts you at a disadvantage?
Dan Lanning answering confidently: "Sit back and watch."
About Hiring Assistant Coaches: "I wasn't going to sacrifice having a great coach, and not having a great recruiter. Coaching is great, and its a huge piece of it, (success) but its not the biggest piece..." (Recruiting is!) Whoa!
About Recruiting: "Its 365 days a year; recruiting is about consistency, and not just about flash. You want to be (as a coach) at a place that is a 'have,' not a 'have-not,' and Oregon is a 'have."
The last five minutes? Whew....gets me excited!

EUGENE, Ore. – Vallery Wong was named the national player of the week by D1Softball and Extra Inning Softball on Tuesday and was also honored as the Pac-12 player of the week.
Wong led No. 11 Oregon’s home run barrage on its trip to North Carolina, belting five of the Ducks’ 17 round-trippers.
The junior catcher from Sacramento, Calif., helped Oregon go 5-0 in games against UNC Greensboro, North Carolina, Penn State and UConn (twice).
Wong went 9-for-17 at the plate (.529) with nine RBI. She slugged 1.412 for the weekend and only struck out once.
Wong entered the weekend with one career home run in 101 career at-bats.

That changed in a hurry Thursday night at UNC Greensboro when her eighth-inning homer gave the Ducks a temporary 4-3 lead in a contest they would eventually win 12-4 in 10 innings.
She continued her torrid pace Friday versus Penn State with a two-run home run in the first inning.
Saturday, she went yard twice versus Connecticut and again versus North Carolina, giving Wong a home run in four consecutive games. She also threw out a runner against the Tar Heels.
Wong not only had at least one hit in all five games, but also knocked in at least one run in all five.
Over the weekend, Wong raised her average 105 points (.259 to .364).
Wong shared Extra inning Softball’s national honors with South Florida pitcher Georgina Corrick.
The Ducks (16-3) are preparing for their 2022 home opener Friday at 4 p.m. versus Portland State.

Oregon had 17 hits, and four home runs! Five pitchers got more experience and did well for OBD...
Jacob Hughes got his first start and in three innings had three hits and no runs allowed.
Dylan Sabian only gave up one hit in a scoreless two innings.
Logan Mercado gave up a two-run homer and that's it in two innings.
Scott Ellis had one hit and no runs given up in his inning pitched.
RJ Gordon had one hit and no runs in his inning to wrap it up!

Oh boy....so much speculation about so many questions! So much to learn about the new coaching staff and their plans...and with the way Basketball is going....it is a nice wheel pass back to football!

I sure would like to know where all the schollies are coming from...must be expecting more exits from our existing roster...asking for a friend.
I think they are anticipating after Spring Football, that a couple of players will see newbie freshmen pass them on the depth chart and they can see the PT handwriting on the wall. I would not be surprised to see the No. 3 QB transfer out as well in May/June.
I don't like it, but it is the world now. Play me or I'm gone...

We live in a self-serving, egotistical, narcissistic society where meaningless drivel can earn you fame and fortune (i.e. one Tik Tok dance per day). We live in a society where folks criticize prominent members of society of being narcissistic in between taking pictures and videos of themselves all day - hypocrisy personified.
Long story short, this type of behavior will be the norm far more often than it should be.
That said, I don't recall thinking KT ever took a game off while playing for the Ducks, so hoping this was just a poor attempt at being cheeky.
That first paragraph of yours cartm25, was just EPIC.
You so nailed a high percentage of our society today in that paragraph. Thanks.
