  1. I hate losing beef at the DL position: 4-Star Recruit Tomuhini Topui De-Committs From Oregon Ducks: USC Trojans? WWW.SI.COM Four-star defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui announced on Tuesday that he has de-committed from the Oregon Ducks, and...
  2. Didn’t love Lupoi’s explanation; not compelling IMO. With 3.5 weeks to prepare, I have a hard time accepting Lupoi’s “reasons”. Any former coaches/ XsOs guys on the forum that can help me understand the connection between game-plan and adjustments. If the other team is smoking your defense, can you make adjustments to nullify it, or are adjustments restricted by the game-plan?
  3. I’m with you @Smith72! I expect great things from Sadiq.
  4. Great job! I agree with the entire premise of the article. Really want to see the reliance on the portal continue to go down; especially at position groups like the OL where consistency and chemistry are paramount. I was stunned during one of tosu’s games when a graphic showed their roster construction was nearly all 4th and 5th year starters. That longevity, consistency, and loyalty make all the difference.
  5. USC Trojans Flip Oregon Ducks Quarterback Commit Jonas Williams WWW.SI.COM Four-star quarterback Jonas Williams and former Oregon Ducks commit has flipped his...
  6. I think Dante Moore has more “arm talent” than Justin Herbert . . . not to be confused with “arm strength”, which Dante has more than enough of. Dante looks like he can really command the pace and trajectory of his throws. Will be really exciting to watch him perform.
  7. Never heard of him before, but I trust Dan Lanning. Oregon Ducks hire Ross Douglas as new WR coach DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Oregon Ducks have reportedly hired former Syracuse WR coach Ross Douglas to replace Junior...
  8. I've got some issues with his ranking. Here's my take: (1) Kirby Smart - A good QB away from winning it all again (2) Dabo Swinney - Took down Saban/Bama while they were in their prime (3) Ryan Day - Hard to keep him lower now that he's won an NC (4) Kalen DeBoer - Once he gets HIS QB, look out (5) Kyle Whittingham - He's been loyal to Utah. If he was HC at any marquee program, I think he'd have multiple NCs (6) Dan Lanning - Only thing he lacks, IMO, is more experience Don't like Marcus Freeman at #5, at all. My ranking of DL at #6 is not an insult in any way. He has as much upside or more than anyone on that list, but the business is tough, and those other coaches have been successful for a long time. If I had to start fresh with a program and had to pick a Top 3: (1) Dan Lanning, (2) Kalen DeBoer, and (3) Kirby Smart . . . and the order is intentional.
  9. I would be shocked if DG lands with the 49ers. If rumors of Purdy's contract being just less than $50M / year are true, that is a deal they would take in an instant. As a wild 49ers fan, I follow all the 49ers beat writers / content creators, and the big worry is if Purdy would try to reset the QB market at $60M / year. I think fans and content creators, alike, would be ecstatic for the current rumored contract. Also, unless Trent Williams can switch to RT, then DG would be getting flattened on a regular basis; 49ers have a serious RT problem. Not sure where he could end up, but I know I'll root for him if he ever ends up a starting NFL QB.
  10. Good! Chip Kelly left before my universal hatred of osu captured him, too.
  11. I have LaMichael James and Jonathan Stewart as my #1 and #2, respectively. After that, I’d have Barner, DAT, Freeman, and Irving somewhere close by.
  12. Yes! The defense he coached in his last year had 8 (EIGHT) players drafted . . . 5 (FIVE) in the 1st round. Two of the five 1st rounders were D Tackles . . . that is my dream for the Ducks: NFL D-Tackles. I didn't officially confirm this, but that would indicate that those players were on the defense for the entire tenure (or longer) Dan Lanning was the DC. I understand they were not all fully developed at the beginning, but sheesh!! Imagine having 5 future 1st rounders, and 8 in total, wow. It's gotta make the job easier.
  13. Isn't the hallmark of an offensive/defensive "genius" the ability to adapt your scheme to fit the personnel? Seems to me that would always be the default as opposed to sticking to a scheme that doesn't suit your players. But I'm not, and never will be, a coach, so I'm a bit of a keyboard warrior with no idea what to do. However, I've watched sports for many years and the theme I've seen that sets certain coaches apart is their ability to adapt their scheme to their personnel and to what the opposition presents. An unpopular question: Is Dan Lanning a defensive genius, OR is he the beneficiary of working in Smart's shadow and being surrounded by NFL talent? The answer could be "Yes" to both parts of the question above. And, I'm not suggesting dissatisfaction with Dan Lanning as head coach. Merely posing the question since I think it's worth asking, it can be good to discuss, and maybe because Dan Lanning needs a little bit of help/development defensively still. But overall as a head coach, A+ if I'm grading.
