Gotta love how the refs missed that wide receiver hold on that touchdown play. He was just dragging the Utah DB backwards.

my thought too. But seems like more and more they allow that hand full of jersey and you pretty much have to tackle someone to get called for holding.

Utah on Offense: They just might pull this off.

    Utah on Defense: Maybe not.

So hard to watch our defense get pushed around. Coach Whittingham is a hard nosed, no nonsense defensive guy. Its just so out of character to see us weak on D.

  3. Don't know if maybe this has already be discussed (haven't read much on the forum today) but I'll bet it seems weird to you guys to see Travis Dye in a Trojans uniform.  Such an old school hard working, hustling kid. And if I remember right there was no clear reason given as to why he transferred.

Won't likely play at the next level. Seems to be just working hard and playing hard for the college memories.

  4. At the beginning of the season I would probably have been willing to bet someone a thousand bucks that we could beat you. After watching UCLA not only beat us but physically punish us I have some serious doubts....especially about our defense. Strange to see them get pushed around like that. And in the close up shots of their faces and body language you could see they were intimidated as the game wore on. Not used to that.

So tell us Freddy, who ya pulling for?  We're all marvelous guys and gals here, we won't bite!  We may Quaaaaak! But we don't bite.

I'll be pulling for UCLA. If you guys beat them, it will mean that you will probably crush us when we play. If you guys lose to UCLA we still have a chance against you. I got about 3 hours sleep last night so I hope that made sense.

  6. I'm a Ute fan.......I'd be a bit worried about them if I were a duck fan. They not only beat us, they were a LOT more physical than we were. That hasn't happened to a Ute team in a long time.

I'll bet it's a great game that comes down to the final minutes. Looking forward to it and I'll be nervous and excited even though I have no dog in the fight.

  7. I'll give him an A as a very early interim grade because:

    1. This is his FIRST ever head coaching job....imagine what an incredible leap that is at any level let alone  coming to a program with the expectations that are at Oregon. Think of your first day nervousness walking into a new job. Then imagine how he had to have felt walking into this. Excited yes, but it still has to be pretty overwhelming. i can picture him laying in bed at three in the morning staring at the ceiling and saying to his wife "can you freakin' even believe I'm the head football coach at the University of Oregon? How did I get from waiter at Outback Steakhouse to this. Can I really do this?" and her saying "go back to sleep. You've got a team meeting early tomorrow."

    2. He's won the games he was expected to win. Not pretty but he has the "W's" and has created some momentum.

All that said, it is way too early to even have any clue whatsoever about what kind of HC he'll be in the long run. I think it'll take at least two seasons to truly get an accurate read on him.

Interesting thing about the beavs is as I have matured, and grown in understanding programs I have been able appreciate and support the beavs when they aren't playing the Ducks.

The beavs program and their fans seem to move in the opposite direction. Growing up it seemed they were much more understanding and even supportive of our Ducks.

Now the adults I know can't stand the Ducks, at all. They want our Ducks to lose every game, won't wear green even on St. Paddy's Day.

Not sure what that says about either program nor their fans, but that is what I see.

I used to feel that way about Oregon too. The reason? During the Chip Kelly era when you guys were in the hunt for national championship's I knew one or two really, really, really obnoxious and arrogant Duck fans at my place of employment. I made the stupid mistake of painting all Duck fan's with that same brush. Then I stumbled upon this FishDuck board and was pretty blown away at how classy y'all are. Totally changed me. I'll be rootin' for ya (until you play Utah).
