  1. So just checked ticket availability. Three things jumped out at me.

    1. It is going to be a half empty stadium.

    2. They have an interesting meaning for the term "medium availability" for the 50 yard section as approximately 60% seats are still available.

    3. You can't say anything bad about fans being disloyal for not buying those tix as they are $185 plus a $15 out of nowhere fee for total of $200.

Another game where crowd noise won't be a problem and the projected high is 59 degrees with no rain. Tough times to be a Buff fan.

  2. I would hope he wouldn't leave after one year. I remember his dad saying that Dan is a very loyal person. That would be tough to take have a great young motivated coach and he leaves after one year. Don't see it happening but if it did would sure put a wet blanket on my love for college football. Not to start to day off with negativity but why would I be loyal to one team when many of the players and coaches aren't? It is becoming too much of "every man for himself."

  3. Don't see a lot of recruits come out of Inglewood High. Good for him and would be great to see him become a Duck. I know that area and I am sure Jamari would like the change to a true college town. I grew up not far from Inglewood and the change to Eugene was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

  4. Yes ... the shorter the "organizational announcement" the more negative the situation. When you retire in good standing the emails are long and positive. You may even get multiple going away parties.

When something bad happens it is usually "John has left to explore other opportunities" and there are no get togethers. It is pretty much "don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out of here."

  5. Lanning does a great job answering these questions although his body language gives away that he can't wait to get out of there. There is a Saturday Night Live episode waiting to be developed on the guy that drags out the questions. "The guys you are playing like to go for explosion plays and seem more prone to do that on 3rd and long especially when they are playing at home when the temperature is somewhere between 42 and 52 degrees. Do you see weather playing a big factor in this game and are you worried about your guys possibly loading up on Halloween candy and experiencing some kind of sugar letdown when trying to cover these explosion plays at a high altitude?"

  6. I think we are going to see a much improved defense by the last game of the year and put it on display in the P12 Championship by shutting down a good Trojan Offense. If we were to play Georgia again we will be much better prepared and give them a battle. We would lose 35 - 31 in a game that earns the respect of fans and potential recruits from around the country.

  7. That was a good read. I try to keep things realistic when thinking about the performance of the players in comparison to the prior athletic achievements of most of the fans watching. I have seen a lot of excellent high school football and baseball players down here in LA. When I think of how few of them received offers to major D1 programs it reminds me of how hard it is to get to their level let alone to actually be a starter at a school like Oregon.

Somebody I know used to say "all the experts are in the booth" as a way to counter the commentators that seemed to have all the answers. Sometimes I think it could be changed to "all the athletes are in the stands" when I hear some of the degrading comments. It is funny to hear some out of shape non athlete fan swilling beers say "you got to make that play" when somebody drops a pass or overthrows a ball. As if they could be out there making it happen! LOL

Fortunately this site is positive and we don't really get that here which is awesome.

  8. Think even if Ducks have a little letdown they will still win by 20 plus. Cal just isn't any good and this game will be no different then when we were little kids playing the bigger kids ... just ain't gonna win!

Side note is that our game is on Fox at 12:30 and Trojans get P12 Network at 4 pm. Another impressive Duck game in front of a big audience including some potential recruits can't be bad.

  9. Not going to game but was just looking on Ticketmaster and there are four total normal priced tickets (ones in blue) for the game. Just sharing in case any of you true Duck fans were looking for tickets not marked up ... and better you get them than somebody that buys and scalps them. Going to be a fun day ... will be watching down here with my UCLA son.

  10. I want Utah to crush them. Live in Southern Cal and have long time SC friend coming over to watch game. He loves trash talking Ducks and thinks SC is a playoff team this year. I need a beatdown.

Playing golf with him in the morning so could be epic day as I beat him by 5 plus shots on course than watch Trojans lose by at least 14 plus. Competition is a great thing among good friends!

  11. My son goes to UCLA and they are a bunch of smart kids but they sure don't seem to be into sports that much. Guess they have other things to do but seems they are missing a fun part of the college experience. Loved going to Duck games in early 80's and we were not even that good.

Just got back from Vegas for a meeting. Not a big gambler but made a bet on the way out of town for Ducks to cover and also hit the over. Going to take winnings and buy tickets to the P12 Championship. Fail proof plan!

  12. Ouch ... that would be a tough one to take. I think the Why answer is that it would be good to show some commitment to your new employer.

I get that money talks but not even finishing one year would be wrong in my opinion.  Also guessing that he told recruits how excited he was to be part of what is being built at Oregon and how he was going to help them develop as people and players. Then to say goodbye after months instead of years would be really weak.

He could stay for at least a couple of years and opportunities at a HC job will exist somewhere else in the future. Maybe even with better programs.
